Borrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrringgggggggggggggggggggg.... That's what you said about Sbraiga... And DiCanio... And Poyet.... But you couldn't let the old testicle face retire with dignity and on a high, could you? Not when you could ruin another career with your gutless wasters, who are only better than our gutless wasters 2 games a year. Mclaren for us and Advocaat for Sunderland are two blaaaa appointments. I wish one of us would show some ****ing ambition.
He did well to keep you guys up. But Di Canio did well when he came in, as others have. Next year will be the big test of Advocaat does seem like a good appointment and deserved a go at the job. Sunderland played it very well IMO.
Absolutely, big thing for me is that we've been starved of investment ever since Bruce and MoN went all credit card happy. Dick has been promised funds. We've got another chance to spend wisely. Just praying to god we do for once. Get the right players and I've got no worries with Dicky at the helm. But if we don't improve the squad we've got another dogfight on our hands that no manager could avoid. Fact is we've got a poor aged squad which lacks balance, skill and pace. Until it's improved nothing will change.
McClaren will probably be able to take comfort in his shiny new 8 year contract. Hopefully he'll do a decent job, but no doubt he could sit tight through horrendous losing streaks, assaults on players and linesmen and numerous other nasties without fear of getting the sack.
im happy with mcClaren, ok the end of his term at Derby wasnt to clever but he has won things (i had to look up the word won) and lets be honest if mcClaren had took over straight after pardew left ,most fans would of been happy.he is regarded as a very good coach so if he is given decent players to work with im sure the boy will do good, lets be honest with ourselves regarding our stock within football circles, i doubt we would even get klipperty at the moment ,old joke but still funny, were the other applicants gen or just paper talk
To be honest, he's one of my least favourite candidates, but it looks like it's going to happen so we might as well accept the fact and give him our backing. He seems well respected in the football world, so what do we know.
Time will tell. But both sets of fans can turn in no time if things are not to there ''standard''.Both need a good start Mac probablly more than tricky dicky.
For the first time in 40 years I'll humbly accept that our manager knows loads better than I do. I expect the majority of Sunderland people feel the same ..... any criticism will be of the players alone.
I'll sya what I've been saying for the past few months. I'm genuinely surprised at the amount of negativity regarding McLaren. It may not work out, as is the case with any appointment, but we've got - I think - the only Englishman to win a top flight league in the last 20 years and it's not like he's won things with easy teams. I'd back most people to go to Scotland and win a trophy with Old Firm clubs (not actually having a pop at Advocaat there, I think it's a fairly uncontroversial comment) though not Rangers in the last couple of years!! Twente won the league for the first time in their history. Boro won the league cup for the first silverware in their history. These weren't massive, bankrolled teams. He's had failure as have most managers who have been to a few clubs, McLaren will forever be associated with failure for England and in the same way Capello is by many. Managing England is the biggest poisoned chalice in world football.
Whelan - Solid pro - its not that complicated. Done a good solid job for them over a number of years. Your problem is you dream of world beating players we'll never sign, so you think anyone who isn't top class is ****e. Its that bi polar personality of yours, you see no middle ground. Mike lives for middle ground. Get with the the programme. Mike's dulling of ambition programme.
