Definitely on the slide.

Carmine’s prediction-

Gone by Christmas and then gets the vacant Southampton job after granny face Hughes gets the boot.

He’ll then Southampton relegated, get sacked and then be appointment the manager of a team newly promoted from the Chump.

IMO.

I can only judge him based on his time at City, his recruitment was astute, and the players clearly wanted to play for him. Would he have kept us up had he joined sooner, who knows.
No because he had the offer of a better gig lined up so threw our last few games with mad team selections so his contract wasn't extended.

That's simply not true, other than the final game against Spurs (when we were already down), the team barely changed from the Watford win to the end of the season (in fact, the only change from the 2-0 win against Watford, to the 4-0 loss against Palace, was Markovic in for Dawson, which you could argue was an improvement).

Maybe my memory is failing me worse than I thought, I seem to remember that although Thudd was in seemingly good form and wasn't injured that he was suddenly not getting a game, I think he had a one game suspension and then never got a look in.

I didn't think the potential to extend his contract was an agreement that the club could trigger independently. I thought it was by mutual agreement, or even his call not ours?

He got a three match ban after the game against Everton, but came straight back into the starting XI against Stoke a few weeks later. He was on the bench and came on as a sub in the remaining games until the final game against Spurs which he started.

My recollection is that if he kept us up, apart from a whacking great bonus he would have no doubt received, then he had the option to stay and extend for another year? Either way its illogical that anybody would suggest he threw his hand in given he had other options, surely to finish on a high would have given him, and his representatives, the greatest negotiating clout with whoever his preferred club was to be.

Thanks for confirming that my memory's ****ed <ok>

As reports had suggested he had already agreed a deal with Watford behind our backs, just like he did the same to them with Everton.

Don't believe that for a second. The guy took the time to sit down with Ehab and Assem after the season had finished and explain his plan for exactly how he would improve the club. It probably involved signing players which will have turned the Allams off no doubt. But he didn't do that for a laugh.

It probably also included calling the team its actual name and the owners disappearing never to be seen again. And a kick in the bollocks for Ehab.

I read an article that gave gave the impression it was a done deal with Watford long before the season finished.

The meeting may just have had him attending in an advisory capacity, his opinion on what would be best for City, but excluding himself from any plans.

Heard some fans blame him not starting against Sunderland as the reason the Silva throwing the final few games as a reason.
