is that the Warren Joyce that celebrated in front of an empty stand? have we forgiven him? (yep, I have).
The reason Jon Walters left City was nothing to do with performance. He wanted to be closer to his family because his baby was seriously ill.
How about this for a crazy idea. We use a message board to debate up coming decisions, before they happen at the club. If Warren Joyce is Hull City manager as of Monday afternoon, he will get 100% support, as he will fully deserve as a new manager. He will off me in any case. If we go on to get promoted, I'll be first in the queue asking for a double helping of Humble Pie. Having said that I remain concerned that a manager with little experience, who has never even managed at this level (Even Brownie had, and he was inexperienced - and recognised that) is not the right man to lead this club forward, with an assistant of even less experience.
Read my post and you'll find I did say debating is fine. No problems with your thoughts on it and I'm not saying he would be my choice either. Its the tone of some comments, such as the OP I have a problem with.
what about the first time deano was here in his early years when he was released. he has been it us 3 times
Precisely. I've verbally criticised one - that's one - player in over 25 years of watching City and that was Matt Wicks. Anyone around at the time will know why. I have NEVER verbally criticised a manager. That does not mean I cannot on a messageboard question the logic of an appointment. Edit - ok, I may have given Dolan and Lee a bit of stick... ;-)
Being a schoolboy doesn't really count. Joyce wasn't sacked when he was a teenager. There is no comparison with the 2 situations.
It was both. He did specifically want a move to Wrexhem because he had family there and his his kid was ill, but he wasn't playing for us at the time, he'd be shipped out on loan to Scunny due to his lack of goals.
i'd like to see you back the new manager whatever happens, can't help but be a bit suspicious if you don't
I can`t believe some of the drivvle that`s put on here sometimes. McLaren this, McLaren that, what a load of bull. The arguments that some have put against Joyce getting the job are ludicrous. His first taste of managing for those of you who have just read about it, was thrust upon him by the shadiest bunsh of directors ever. There was so much going on in the background the lad never stood a chance, yet despite the odds he created a togetherness in the team which got us survival. Joyce has been managing the Man U youngsters who are now on our books, he is held in great esteem by SAF and valued by their club, our youngsters obviously have working knowledge of him and his playing style will have been dictated for the last three years by the Man U playing style. I would have loved to OGS alongside of him with Joyce as the assistant but that aint gonna happen. Putting NB alongside him will ensure the loyalty and passion for the club, another who is well respected within our club by chairman, players and fans. McLaren on the other hand has had his day, his last two jobs have been at so called bigger clubs, with good players, and he has made a right pile up of the job, he has alienated players to such a degree that they do not play for him, to be fair, the Forest job was a poisoned chalice, but those people who quote this forget he went to Wolfsburg and messed up big style, at the time they had been playing in the Champions League, he put paid to that with his management style and made a right mess of them. Look at the England job and how far out of his depth he was there. Sorry guys as far as I`m concerned it would have to be Joyce and Barmby, if we are unable to get OGS on board.
I think what bum chinned crab is trying to say is last time Joyce was here he didn't have a company car so he wasn't good enough. This time around, due to our cuts of company cars, he still probably won't have one, which will therefore deem him not good enough. If he's not good enough for a company car, he's not good enough for the company.
I admit I do not know as much about Warren Joyce as some of you but I really hope that people don't slag him off too much, just give him a chance and remember a couple of bad games are going to happen now and again whoever is manager. For me the main thing is that he has history with Hull and will care about the team and the fans, plus Barmby we know is passionate about the club and wants it to do well. What better combination then that to forge a good atmosphere amongst the players, we need everyone to stick together and show Nigel and Leicester that we can pull through this and go up the league. We need to hold on to our young players which if there is a good team spirit will make it easier. From what I have heard about Joyce just the fact that he kept the team together during the great escape makes me think he is a person who can command respect from others and is a born leader, the finer skills of management I am sure he will learn quickly and whose to say he will not be asking Alex F. for advice now and then. Whatever has gone on behind the scenes I hope the Allams have sent out a message that this club will not be messed with by anyone and we should all stand firm behind the team and the management and get on with the business of getting back on the pitch and working our way back up again.
You are correct, and some of the best Football Managers are naturals, and if he doesn't have the basic skills it would have been evident a long time ago. This is his chance and our opportunity.
