Players and being honourable died out when Le Tiss retired(maybe Gerrard as well).

Don't compare Gerrard and Le Tissiers integrity beefy. Gerrard was off to Chelsea until dark forces stopped it! Not to mention staying at a Champions league club is a piece of piss compared to a constant relegation struggler.

Le Tiss only didn't go to Spurs as they didn't offer him a big enough wage rise, everything else was agreed. But fair play after the deal had fallen through he stayed.

Nup. His wife stopped him from moving as I understand it. Didn't want to live in London as wanted to stay in Soton for the links to Guernsey.

Weird I read a quote with Le Tiss saying it himself. Maybe he was covering for her?

I suspect there was a few reasons the move didn't happen (I think Venables was appointed around the time the offer came about and wasn't keen either), but that was certainly one of them.

Venables has to be the biggest reason....

I thought it was because they revealed the new kit for the following season and he thought it looked a bit too tight-fitting for him...

I don't care about Jay until he commits his future to Southampton. If I was at his place, I would feel a certain obligation to the club that stood by me in every way for a year while I was injured. But that's just me.

Sounds like he is on his way back.

Can I just say thanks for your consistently good contributions to the board, DTLW- I don't have to bother following social media or keeping an ear out for ITK rumours regarding Saints. You have it all covered.<ok>

As of today...

...about time!

Tbf, it has been admitted that he's been kicking a football for a couple of weeks or more. My friend who lives in Staplewood might have got the odd week or two incorrect, but essentially he was right. Anyway, we'll see if he breaks down in training with the football and in games.
