Why would "Jay's camp" say he is closer to fitness than he actually is?

I guess that's the thinking, but no matter how stupid people may think rich premier league clubs are. They're really not going to part with serious cash on a player who has not played for a year.
He is going to have to at least take to the field this season or have a good pre-season & champions league qualifiers :emoticon-0105-wink: to prove his fitness

As mentioned, Koeman seems to think he's staying next season. Another good season here wouldn't do him any harm....if he fully recovers form.

If he stays next season and finds his form that he was showing before his terrible injury gets me excited about next season already......

Fact is, it's sadly pretty unlikely he'll be anything close to the same. His speed and movement were the best parts of his game and history teaches us that people lose a step from his injury. Even ones who recovered much quicker than him had to alter their game or completely re adapt it.

Jay needs to look at what Alan Shearer did after his surgery, get super jacked up and become a real number 9, like Pelle actually. And he has to learn how to be more clinical in front of goal, always felt he needed too many chances. Also like Pelle, actually. Maybe they should start using the same hairdresser.

I always fear the worst with these injuries, but he is a talented kid and he seems to have an inner determination.

Look forward to welcoming him back

Wasn't it Toby that said how well JRod has handled his injury. Said he never complains, just keeps working. And let's face it....rehabilitation can be difficult and boring. Deserves to recover and get a reward for his patience.

Yes, but we'll get more money for him if he has two legs....otherwise we just get the insurance claim. Wonder how much he is insured for.

I think if you leave the fact is out of your post, you may be right. But it's by no means certain. He may well come back as potent as he was before. We'll see. Let's not sign him off to the disabled ward just yet.

The players that have successfully come back from this kind of injury is a short list, and most are legends of the game. Some of them also described how they had to abandon reliance on the physical traits they had been dependent on their game. I'd love to see him continue, I wish him zero ill will, but he's going to have it very tough if his purely physical ability has in any amount suffered.

I'm sure you mean well, JG. All I'm saying is let's hope he comes back good as new, and unchanged. Cynically, we'll get more money for him when the time comes..! And, we might get 6 months playing out of him too, in order to prove his worth.

As much as I want rodders to come back and find form James G is in fact correct. The depressing truth is we have to lower our expectations of Jay. Until recently some people on here were talking about relying on him during the latter stages of the season. Whilst I admire the optimism it does show a lack of appreciation about CCL rupture.

Not as bad as a papercut though. Oooh! Nothing worse than papercuts.
