Maybe Snodgrass doesn't fit in with MS style of play , even tho he is one of our best players , He has been saying he wants to bring in fast wingers , he may have said to Ehab cash in on him as long as I can use the money to bring in my players ... One mans best player isn't always another , look at Sturridge at Liverpool , when fit their best striker by a mile but Klopp hardly uses him , I'm not suggesting this is the case but it's just another angle and other possibility
If we go down I don't think Snoddy will be convinced by money to stay? He will want to be in the Prem? So a contract is irrelevant. Still the fact he hasn't been offered a contact is typical of our crap ownership!
Precisely. I'm not going to pretend ive seen Silva's teams before - ive no interest in Greek or Portuguese football - but all received wisdom seems to suggest he wants a high tempo, fast paced approach and that's not Snodgrass' style.
Err i meant in the new contract offer. Say we offer a "five" year deal with a relegation clause in it, his agent will take it to other clubs and say match it and no relegation clause. Game over. We cant afford to not have relegation clauses. Has anyone said we are selling them? If any players really wants to go they will. While trying to make out they dont. Payet might be a **** but at least hes been honest about it.
Though MS does like to be creative from set pieces, which Snodgrass is our absolute best option. I did like the mixed up corner routine yesterday in front of the North Stand. The ball was passed along the ground from the corner to the edge of the area and the shot was banged in. Looked on target, but for a Bournemouth intervention. Mixing up set plays rather than the increasingly predictable ball into the box. I liked this.
I think this may well be the case, and said as much in an earlier post a couple of days ago. I don't want to see him leave, but I don't think it would be a big problem now, AS LONG AS Silva was given the money to continue the rebuilding and it didn't unsettle the likes of his best mate Robertson.
I'm not sure about that. He's not the fastest runner but he's a great touch, calm on the ball, quick feet and quick thinking. I reckon it will suit him well.
Had Pheelgood still been in charge I think Snodgrass's decision might have been made last week... this week he may be having second thoughts.. who knows... what I am convinced of is that should he go, MS has already someone in mind...
And he does work hard, closes down etc....he was playing in behind Hernandez yesterday, with Diomande taking up the right midfield slot, so Silva could see his future being there. Be madness to let 1/2 of our goals walk in January.
Playing the game at a high tempo doesn't necessarily mean you need a team full of players with the pace of Roberto Carlos, it's as much about the speed you move the ball about as it is about out and out speed.
I think the team are still getting used to it, there were times yesterday when the ball was just a yard in front of the player, but our tempo has noticeably increased since Marco took over.
Partly agree. There was still a lot of back passing yesterday though. A couple of times when the score was 1-0 to Bournemouth they'd overloaded offensively and we didn't capitalise on moving the ball forward quickly whilst they had lots out of position despite lots of options to do so. I guess old habits die hard and it's situations like turning defence into attack quickly are what MS will try to encourage. It was evident the back line were playing much further up the pitch and you could see Dawson actively encouraging his central defensive partners Davies and Maguire to move up the pitch.
Jakupovic was also pushing them forward. There was a lot less backpassing to the keeper yesterday, which was good to see. A lot of our play has started to go through Huddlestone again, which really suits him and it makes us a much more attacking threat.
Agreed. You can see what he's trying to get them doing. Still some old habits in there which need changing. Nothing wrong with a back pass, just a few times there was a much better transition pass to create overloads in our favour. I love his interviews - listen and see how many times he says 'It's normal' or 'Our situation'. Brilliant.
