I'm sure there are strikers who have been great for us and then done nothing elsewhere but all I can think of is those for whom the reverse has been true. Had goalscoring careers but did very little with us. I bring you - Steve Massey, Aaron Wilbraham, Danny Graham, Chris Martin. Marcus Forss doesn't look like he belongs on a football pitch but watch him score 20 for someone next season.
Believe me, it's been happening for a long, long time. Bannister/Warboys (Smash & Grab), Alf Wood, can't remember all the other examples ...

Dave Sunley another corker and didn’t Stan Ternent waste a lot of money on Bamber ?
Years ago, in the ****kicking late 90's era, City were playing away from home (possibly Mansfield or Doncaster??). I had been working that morning and drove straight to the round still with my steel toecap boots on. After we got parked up, we were walking through a McDonalds car park to get to the ground when a lad called Justin (who had difficulty speaking so he used a device he could type on) was playing with a 50p Shoot type of football and pinged it in my direction. Being the sociable type that I am, I passed it back.
However, the combination of steely boots and 50p plastic football sent it up onto the roof of the McDonalds.

I felt like a massive twat! (I was a massive twat!)

After apologising profusely, offering to buy him a replacement and getting absolute Daggers from a mum with her kids in the McDonalds, Justin walked up to me and showed me what he thought of me.

"YOU ARE DAVE BAMBER." was all he wrote.

I was ruined.

I'm still sorry Justin.

Can anyone see KLP signing a new deal after wanting to go to the PL in Jan?

If they treble his wages and offer him a decent bonus package, absolutely. He might wait to sign it and see what comes in from the PL, but if there's a competitive offer on the table then there's a decent chance.

Under the Allams it would have been the same contract on the same wages just to say we tried, I actually think we'll at least try and keep them on.

Yes, we could multiply his wage by 5/6 times and he’d not even be on 5 figures a week. Huge room for improved terms. He bought a house at the start of the season, I think if he does it’ll be at the start of next season when the team is assembled.

The fact we could treble his wages and he’d still be on **** all too compared to some in the squad too…

That leaves us in a bit of a dodgy position though, if he ain't signing we realistically have to sell this summer this summer to get top whack. I wouldn't want to do a Bowen and leave it till Jan where he's only got 18 months left or god forbid next summer where we'll almost certainly get less than we would this year. The same applies to Greaves too

5/6 times? Really? I knew our wage structure under the Allams was very lean but I had no idea KLP was on less than £2k-a-week. How much was he on before he signed a new contract midway through last year?

All I'll say is thank **** we're not owned by the Allam's anymore, otherwise this summer would be an utter soul-destroying ****show 'rebuilding' in League 1. Unless someone makes a stupidly high offer for KLP (including wages) it makes sense for him to renogiate with us and see where the team is come late July/early Aug - he can still push for a move then if there are genuine offers on the table. Hopefully that won't happen and he stays another year to play with better players around him, as many have said. Playing for a struggling team this year still got him his England Call up and he and his agent will have to factor that in. It can only be positive next season.

Same general points for Greaves.

I’m not sure but I’m pretty sure he agreed a wage lower then the one he was due to get should he have made another start.

He was still on his scholar deal, which are usually between £100- £750 a week depending on potential while we were in League One. When he signed in January 2021, he bumped up to about £2.5k a week and it went up again to about £3k week upon promotion to the Championship.

Given what we've paid him, can't argue we've not got value for money.
