Off Topic Humber Bridge

I heard the sorry about the bloke heading for the Hull to Rotterdam ferry who rocked up at the Pier Head and got on the paddle steamer going across the Humber....Not sure if this was an urban myth.....A bit like Neil Tennant from the Pet Shop Boys is a qualified Rugby League referee. Or that David Bowie and Iggy Pop were keen birdwatchers.
Every time he gave players a card they would ask him 'what have I done to deserve this' and that is where the song came from.
Its wonderful how things pan out sometimes.

Are they staffless now? There used to be a really pretty blonde in one of them some days. I would try and observe from distance who was in them and then cause chaos changing lanes late on. If I am paying over the odds to cross a bridge I prefer a nice face to be stamping my card.

Stuart Maconie him off the radio a few years ago, used to make up these urban myths in the NME or one of those music papers. It's surprising how many people were actually fooled by them.

You’d think there would be a business opportunity of some sorts doing river trips
Used to be a speedboat that went to reeds island and back that was good fun (took my Mum on it for her 70th! <laugh>)
Presumably not profitable, but it’s a shame
A family from the West Riding thought so too many moons ago. They were considering moving to Hull and spent months and months plus all their savings doing up a boat for river cruises with a mooring near the old Oss Wash. I got to know them when I was in the indoor market and they used to buy bits and bobs off me. They moved heaven and earth to get the operation off the ground but were hit from all angles by regulations and costs put in front of them by Hull City Council. In the end they threw the towel in and gave up on the idea.

Sounds like a Terry Geraghty inspired refusal to do anything positive for the City. You know the bloke who was adamant that Ennerdale Sports Centre would close, if he had anything to do with it.... BTW.. Sport England have given HCC over £1 million to do it up...Should be reopening in the summer. But don't bank on it!!

I didn’t know Hull CC had mooring rights tbh. The marina is a private compsny
Shame though whatever

Humber Bridge - We’ve had some of messages and comments from account holder and non-account holders asking where their crossings are. It’s a great question and there’s a different answer for both.

ACCOUNT HOLDERS
Your crossings will take a few days to show in the transaction section of your account dashboard. To be clear, that’s not just the new system catching up with itself, that’s how it will be going forward. Please be assured – it’s nothing to worry about. The consolidation of crossings, balance updates, low-balance warnings, and auto top-ups are all synced on the same timeframe – which means no one will be disadvantaged, no erroneous admin fees.
It's actually been that way since 2015 – it’s just you are noticing it with the new system.

NON- ACCOUNT HOLDERS
If you’re paying after you cross, the new system will not list your crossing after you enter your reg number – which is quite a big change from the previous system. But it’s okay – you don’t need us to tell you how many times you crossed the bridge today or yesterday. All you need to do is buy enough Guest Crossings to cover the trips you’ve made or about to make. As long as you buy them before midnight the day after crossing, our system will match your crossings.

You can access the new system at https://toll.humberbridge.co.uk/
