On what basis was it requested and then rejected by Assem? Shear bloody mindedness or something else? How such a poll is conducted could influence and/or decide whether its worth pursuing or not by either Assem or the objectors, or indeed any other group. Whilst potentially being suitable process, if the questions are not the 'right' ones then there's no point in pursuing. Between now and say March the club could also use ticket counterfoils on match days as a process for gathering opinion and data.

Don't fall into the trap of mistaking "Don't care" for "Don't mind". The two are very different. Many people care passionately about the club, but don't see what they regard as a minor name change as an issue.

Personally if I was offered Hull City Tigers and a £7.5m striker, or Hull City AFC and no striker, I'd go for Tigers. I don't expect every one to agree with me, and I certainly won't be bothered if the name stays the same, but if it brings in one decent sponsor who funds £5m plus, then I'm for it. I certainly don't see the inclusion of the word "Tiger" as destroying our heritage and history (crap as that is).

Each to their own, of course, but I won't abuse those who have different opinions (unless they abuse me).

You're not being offered Hull City Tigers, you're being offered Hull Tigers and anyone who thinks that dropping City from our name is a minor name change is not rational.

I didn't care enough to vote, so I didn't vote.

At the meeting with AA, he said he'd ballot season ticket holders over the name change, a week later he said he wouldn't and nobody told him how to run his business. He may well now be forced to do one, though he'll resist as much as possible, as he knows the outcome would be a rejection of the change.

This poll tells us nothing we didn't know already, it's in line with all the other polls, but it will only be a full ballot of season ticket holders that really matters.

I'd welcome that happening as soon as possible.

Regarding season the ballot of season pass holders.

There are a number of issues surrounding this.
The club cannot hand over its database to any outside body.
The process for consultation is not outlined.
Some clubs have memberships and some don't. It starts to get complicated when clubs control the information.
For instance if the club conducted a ballot, who determines the wording? Who oversees any vote. What constitutes a vote. Quick examples would be, if you have a 12 seat executive box, do you get 12 votes or one? Do junior season pass holders get a vote?
Assem Allams belief that this is a business decision and that the supporters have no say in the business of the club.
There is also a belief in the club that it needs to attract new supporters in. And that the old brigade who rattled the collection tins outside the BP have no place in the future of the club. Which sort of distances the club from consulting with those who it feels do not have the clubs best interests at heart.

Here is a question. If a ballot of season pass holders was taken on a matchday, by the simple means of a ballot box just belong the turnstiles, with one vote for or against, how many would find fault with it? And would the result be accepted, what if, the majority did in fact vote for a name change?
Can you imagine the scene outside the KC with the club and CTWD canvassing the pass holders as they queue.

A consultation exercise to guage opinion, doesn't necessarily need to include a ballot.

I would imagine any ballot, if held, would be along the lines of:

Accept the name change and season ticket prices will rise only with inflation.

Oppose the change and season tickets will need to rise by around £300

So all of these polls are not ballots then?

Surely if you conduct a poll were there is a vote, that is a ballot.

The phrase "we conducted a poll of the readers of HDM" has the same context as "we conducted a ballot of the readers of HDM" doesn't it.

What you are saying lends itself to Assem Allams view that he consulted with the fans by meeting with them and offering to refund the passes of those opposed to the name change.

Why the hell is there a Hull City Tigers option or a Hull City option when they're not the issue and never was?

And why the **** would you vote "I don't care"? What you going to do when the FA look into this. It's the future of your club either way.

The FA poll better be better organised than this ****e.

I didn't realise everyone had to care about the name. It's just a bloody name.

Is it? What happens if he doesn't get his own way, the fans tell him where to go & he pulls out?

Also what you going to do when the FA want your opinion?

The poll is pretty meaningless when you have a dictator in charge of things, democracy means nothing to people like that

It is just a name. If he pulls out, it will be for being unappreciated, not because the FA decided they don't like the sound of Hull Tigers. If the FA want my opinion? I'll tell them Hull Tigers sounds ****e, but my life will continue if it changes, after all its only a bloody name.

Godwins Law, well done on that. People who don't care are the enemy of democracy as that's how things end up with dictators running the show

I think the ones who care are putting on a pretty good fight against the indifferent glory-seekers though, fans of other clubs are flagging us up as fans who do care and won't settle for being unnecessarily rebranded

Your lass allows you to go on football message boards in December even though you aren't allowed to go to matches?
