If we beat derby We have a chance to not be the worst home team in the league too We could rise to nose bleed heights of 22nd!!!
Need to win this one as our final day league record this Century is probably the worst in the whole English league and non league structure .
Good thinking lads. Never score from set pieces before Wednesday. Never get penalties before Preston. Now trying with corners
One concern I always have is that we don’t have a big forward line so looking at the midfield for me on their day Alzate and Puerta are two good footballers but are pretty lightweight so we need someone with that real strength in the midfield to aid them. That’s if he decides to put them both in and if so Who do you put in, Palmer who on his day can run a game but then plays poorly for the next two or Crooks who for me added so much to the team when he first came but seems to have run out of steam a bit. Slater works hard but again not the biggest. Obviously I don’t know who he will go for but it’s a massive decision because at times I feel as though we have been bullied out of games this season. I read Derby scored from two set pieces at the weekend so are they another big side?
I mentioned this before Monday's game; I don't think it's a poor delivery as such, I think it's an instruction to aim for that near post in the hope of a flick on or something. But I really don't understand why we attempt that routine so often, and have done for years under various managers. I want to understand it but I just don't get it, it never works and we attempt it with probably more than half of our corners. It never even looks like causing a problem, but we do it again and again and again.
Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome. Never understood it either.
Off the top of my head, I don’t remember us putting one of the bigger players or them making a run to the near post to win the flick on. It’s always last second dash by anyone to try and get there
So, this game is one I'm really not looking forward to, for the first half against Preston I just wanted to hide, 2nd half was a lot better. This could either be a great day to see city or an awful one. Don't want to go but don't want to miss out on a game that could see us safe and be a defining one for next season as to which division we'll end up in. We are light weight in midfield, I think since Ashbee, we've not had a hard man in the middle to really control things, be a real captain, kick peoples backsides if they weren't putting the hard yards in. I think next season that midfield master is what we are crying out for. UTT
A lot of people talking about our home form as a factor (looking at the Derby forum ahead of this game). As bad as we think it is, under Selles we have a record of; P12 W4 D4 L4 It’s not as disastrous as we think - still room for massive improvement but not sure it is a big a factor as people think.
Think we need to treat Saturday’s game against derby as an FA cup final, from minute one to however many past 90, sing, shout, put it about. one of the most important games in a long time, leave **** all to chance…no matter the score.. Support, support, support!!!!! Come on city !!!!!!!!
Oh dear....The alarm bells won't be going off...at that stat. They'll be literally belting out as loud as Big Ben's bells. I said a few weeks ago Derby looked up for the fight. A lot more than us...God forbid I am proven right. Yepp. Last massive game had to be home to Cardiff. Though circumstances were different as Cardiff were already promoted. This one really is a final.
