Thank God, two of you scraping the barrel would be too much. Don't forget, the RL crowd in question was an exception, a marquee one if you will.
Scraping the barrel would be struggling to come up with four examples to back up your argument, then realizing the examples you gave actually only reinforce the point you were trying to disprove. Correct an exception for a regular league fixture, a marquee event in RL (comparable to the examples you gave) would be something like the magic weekend or the grand final.
Nonsense. It's called a 'bumper derby crowd' because it's an exception...what you yourself have described as a marquee game. You then claimed that ANY other sport with the exception of football would be happy with that crowd! I simply listed a few off the top of my head that show your argument is frankly, piffle. I know some see me as anti-rl, I'm not. But some of the cobblers offered in argument from the RL types can't pass without being pointed out for the nonsense it is.
It's not an exception, it's above average, there's a difference. There have been a few games this season with crowds of 17,000 plus (Wigan V Warrington, Leeds V Castleford, Wigan V Saints...etc) to be an exception it would have to be the only one. Let's look at your examples then. Rugby Union - average league attendance in RU last year was 12,478. Cylcing - The Manchester and London Velodromes only hold 3500 and 6000 respectively. Horse Racing - Total average attendances across the 336 fixtures staged at Jockey Club Racecourses' 15 courses in 2012 was 5,278. And your saying all of those would be concerned with a 17,000 crowd? I'm not arguing, I'm pointing out facts (not just speculating as you are), if you choose to take that as nonsense because it doesn't agree with your viewpoint then that's little concern of mine.
It would help if you related your reply to the examples I gave. I never mentioned track cycling for a start. Even stretching the Horse racing to include minor meetings gives an average similar to RL, so the 'exception' still apllies. The RU average includes lower games, so there will be more cases nearer to your marquee value. So your 'facts' are skewed and an exception doesn't have to be the only one, it can be one of a number of exceptions. The facts as you like to call them point to your claim being nonsense, which is what I pointed out. Clutching desperately at straws, which is what you're doing, shows the weakness of your argument. Why not just enjoy RL because you enjoy RL? Why the depserate need to try to claim it's something it's patently not?
There was no 'stretching' of the horse racing figures, they are simply the averages for the standard weekly meetings (comparable to regular league fixtures in RL). Of course the RU number will have greater and smaller values, that's an what an average is, not sure what your point is there. By spouting persistent bollocks you may convince yourself that your right, but until you can back it up it means nothing. I never have/will claim RL is something it's not, it's a localized, insular sport which to me is one of it's major attractions, I just feel it sometimes needs defending when people like yourself give your ill informed opinions. I have work to do now so enjoy arguing with yourself.
You've yet to offer a reasoned argument, so I've effectively been making points to myself since you made the ridiculous claim below. Balderash and piffle like that needs to be challenged or some poor deluded fool will think there's some truth in it.
So why not say "well done" to a Hull rugby league team that has reached a cup final at Wembley as per the OP? Or are there just empty words here?
But why should we have to say well done? Did you read any of the dullers forums when we got promoted?
Simply because I don't see it as that much of an achievement given the advantages they've got over the other teams. That's not anti-rl, it's my opinion, but as I said earlier, I doubt I'll convince you of that so there it is.
I don't know. In my experience, generally speaking other RL fans don't seem to suffer with the same condition. They just get on with enjoying their chosen sport.
They aren't just some are ..... as are some Hull City AFC fans !! and supporters of every sport worldwide have deluded fans/supporters. It's just how it is. RL is still liked, watched and admired by millions worldwide just no where near as many millions as football is.
I challenge that, I spend more time around the Dullers than you and I can assure you that its above average with them.
So it should be. The other two matches that month have been moved for tv. I can't stand when they do that.
The Premier League are never going to move a game due to a rugby league fixture, they couldn't give a **** about anyone potentially wanting to watch another sport and they'll be well aware that the ground will be sold out regardless.
