I think I would be tempted to stick McNulty in but think he will play Wyke. Could Ross surprise us and play a totally different game to suit Griggs strengths. I still think with the right service he will score goals. One of the reasons I would like O9 moved forward to play balls through to Grigg.
His strengths had him benched at a s@it Wigan team tho...says it all.

I don't fancy him for it, Arsenal tried that with Ozil and he seemed to have one great game after getting it then slipped back into dipping in and out of games when he felt like it.

Personal preference but I prefer a blood and thunder captain, someone who will lead by example every single game.
Cattermole ? Oh hang on.

hope its McNulty stick with the form player
Read somewhere, probably here, that Ross told McNulty he sees him as playing behind the striker. Wyke to knock them down, McNulty to bang them in? McNulty looks like a frickin' barrel. Go after Watmore and he's likely to step on your foot and then run over you. It will take the aid of two trainers for you to limp off to the sideline for an immediate substitution. (actually happened against the dutch side)

Thing is they'll have had to do something for him. He was on too much of a good thing to just leave with no pay off or anything.

God knows what was agreed.

The club had to do something to sort things out.

You can't build a real team spirit when underachieving players are on wages way in excess of others.

Cattermole and Honeyman looked out of place at times and I think things will improve now they're gone.

I don't mind either but we failed last season with them and can't afford to do the same again.

Both Honeyman and Catts were managed by Maggie Byrne's agency so there will have been a compensation payment.

Regardless of the playing side of the equation its heartening to see that the club isn't being held to ransom by mercenary players and bloodsucking agents.

Bribing players to come to Sunderland hasn't worked and never will.

We need younger ambitious players who want to play for the club and advance alongside us.

Good point. Finally rid of that poison.

Plenty of good choices in the CM and AM roles to improve on last year.
CM: Dobson, Robson, Power, McGeouch, Grant
AM: Maguire, McGeady, Watmore, Embleton
+ O'Nien & Gooch in wider, wingback roles or to supplement CM and AM

I do like the look of McNulty - strikers instinct and robust as ****. Looks a good fit, esp for League 1.

£400,000, if you go to the league one transfer site it is interesting, we are in profit at the minute by about £1.4m.

@SkySports_Keith Jack Ross says George Honeyman’s move to Hull came as a surprise to him, but he reckons his team have enough quality in that position to roll with it [HASHTAG]#SAFC[/HASHTAG]

Personally I think Jack has told him to find another club as we have players in midfield who would restrict his opportunities of playing despite being Captain.
I like George but he is too lightweight for this league and I wish him well at Hull.
