Think the only business today will be Gedo in, which will be OK with me. We've spent well this window and don't want to overstretch ourselves financially. Just got to hope Aluko injury isn't to serious. Don't expect any outgoings. Fryatt, Prossy, McLean and Stewart will hopefully go out in the loan window as no one will come charging in waving money around to get any of them.
It looks like Gedo is just about done, but we're still chasing Rodellega, also Bendtner just got a £3m pay-off from Arsenal, so he could be back in the running. Odemwinge is off to Cardiff, I think we might regret that one.
A lot of posters on here, myself included, fancied him as a player. Bruce just didn't appear interested.
I'm aware that Bruce thinks there's such a good mood in the camp, he doesn't want to mess it up, but I think Odemwinge is no more likely to mess it up than Bendtner.
Wonder why Bruce has such a downer on Odemwingie. Have they had previous dealings, or is he just going on "press reports" which would seem to be unlikely.
We really should have gone for Odemwingie, even with the possible gamble on his mentality. I really don't want the 'main' business to be Gedo. Please be after someone who will be a big improvement Bruce... I do like Gedo, he was great last season here and I would be happy if he is back, but we need a 'bigger' signing than him. not necessarily him, but someone like Quagliarella at Juve.
At least with Gedo we won't need to have a long medical. Bruce does have history with Rodellega and Bendtner and not with Odemwinge, which may hold sway.
not much, i'm afraid. ian ashbee was allowed the chance to prove himself at each new level we got promoted to.
I remember Brucie saying they do just as much scouting into how they are as a person as how they are as a player. I think Odemwinge would of only passed 50% of that exam and team spirit is an important thing!
If we want him I can't see him staying at Ahly. He has a choice of 3 games with Ahly, or the chance to play in the premier league. Player power being what it is and all that...
Here's our report from yesterday for those who've yet to read it: http://www.kingfut.com/2013/09/01/hull-city-seek-re-sign-gedo-loan-al-ahly/ We're told negotiations still ongoing despite rumors that the coach has refused. Deal likely to go to the wire
Seems like Swansea was also in the race for Odemwingie, but they refused to pay more than £2m, whereas Cardiff are willing to pay £3m despite West Brom wanting £4m.
Didn't west Brom accept a £1.5m offer from a Qatar club which fell through at personal talks? Why would any club pay more than what's already been accepted?
