But it's a loan deal? Surely the transfer window doesn't affect it as the loan window is open for a little longer? Or have I made that up?
unless Hull city is willing to pay a good fee for gedo i can't see him moving now! we really really need him and i can't see Mohamed youssef(ahly manager) agree to let him go now when we are trying to qualify for the semi-final of caf champions league
I think that's only for championship clubs and the premiership loan window closes with the window. I may be wrong though.
So why has his agent stated he is trying to get the deal through? Mamdouh Eid ‏@Mamdouh_Eid 28m Rumors about @Geddo15 r true. We r trying hard 2 finish the deal though in the dying seconds. Wont be an easy 1
How can anyone be negative about getting this guy ? What was it, 5 goals in 12 appearances (don't know how many minutes that translated into), at a critical time in our push for the premiership. Can't be a bad goals/game average in any league these days. Got an injury, who knows what else he may have accomplished in the run in had that not transpired ?. Unproven in the Premiership ? What did anyone know about Michu when he arrived to play for Swansea. FFS, this lad is virtually free, has a couple of countrymen in the town (Elmo & the bosses), and is not a bad player by any stretch of the imagination. We may get a marquee player, but maybe not ( think anyone with Defoe's pedigree will come ?). This would be good business....not the least from the perspective that he enjoyed himself here. He'll fight like f**k for this team.
he said it won't be easy because he knows Al Ahly need him and the manager will only agree if the board convinced him that we need money at this time when the club is suffering financially
I am happy with Gedo. To me he looked very good for his first 5 games or so and I think he had excuses for running out of steam (unlike other players). I think the weird timing of the different leagues, adapting to the championship which is never easy and the fact that he had never seen snow let alone played in it are all good excuses imo. I don't see why he wouldn't have carried on otherwise. Also I think he is a slightly different striker than what we have. I like him a lot.
And the fact he had barely played a game for a year wouldn't have helped. He was nowhere near match fit and Brucey admitted as much.
Sorry for my lack of knowledge Foxegypt, but what are is his current contract situation, and are the "transfer" rules in Egypt similar to those in Europe ? I suppose I mean, if he's in the last year of his contract, can he move without restriction as a free agent at the end of his contract, and if so, would Al Ahly wish to get something for him now rather than risk him leaving for nothing at the end of this year ?
i'm having difficulty trying to square your attitude to us having players who are unproven at premier league level (including a striker with a 50% international goal ratio) with the picture of ian ashbee in your signature.
I would take Gedo. In my opinion he is better than Fryatt and Pro. I do not think he is going to bag 10 plus PL goals but he would be a better back up then we currently have.
ofcourse it is similar but gedo contract is still running until january 2015 because he signed a 6 months contract extension before the loan move to hull last season (his contract was originally running untill the end of 2013-2014 season) also there is a buyout clause in his contract he can use if he want to leave after the third year (which he can use now) if i remember right it is around 1.1M £
For me a fit Gedo has the potential to be a great bit of business. If he can cope with the pace he could deliver. But this will be a case of very good man management rather than a players self discipline to get him at a PL level of fitness.
He did a good job for us in the Championship, obviously struggled with fitness issues but he was clinical in the games he played. If we can't bring in another striker then I see no reason why not to take a gamble on him.
Gedo would be a good addition IMO, he knows where the goal is, and I think he was carry this injury for the last 2 or 3 games he played. Fully fit I am sure he could do a job for us, though we still need another striker in addition to him if Fryatt/Prossy and McClean go out.
Staggering that so many people are turning their noses up at Gedo, all he did was score before he picked up the injury. Fickle fans.
I dont think its as simple as that.. Im sure Gedo would do a job for us in the prem, better than Fryatt or Prozzy perhaps but Bruce has always said he wants to bring someone in who will significantly improve the team.. Like Huddlestone & Livermore did, they completely transformed our midfield & team.. I think supporters are hoping to see someone like that brought in and the news of Gedo is just a little bit underwhelming.
