For what it's worth I've just pinged a message to an ex player I chat to occasionally with the link - and he's someone still very much involved with the club. He may or may not reply, depending on how discreet he feels.

I mean, obviously Tobes and his mate from Everton will know more about the internal goings on at Saints than him, but I'll let you know if he comes back to me.
Awesome! Do let us know, though I'm sure it will not be as credible as Tobes little friend.

I've been a tax-dodging student for most of those posts, a kid in school/sixth form for the rest.

I genuinely don't understand why anyone would care enough to devote so much time to arguing on another club's forum. It's weird.
It's a multi club forum son, made for exactly these types of discussions, and it's not an argument, it's a debate about an issue that involves both clubs.

Happy to help.

Are you sure? Let me know if any of your legal experts know the facts, I am interested in how the League might interpret it, as tapping up or just normal business etiquette!

The Law of Agency is very specific. If you have an agent he represents you and discussions and agreements made by him/her it is the same as speaking to the actual person. So if Everton discussed the potential role without clearing with Saints then it is tapping up. A simple law

The guy who posted that did it on Sotonians and says he got his info from from someone who works for Saints so of course there's going to be a pro-Saints spin to what he says. He also claims to be recounting a conversation that took place "a few days" ago. Perfectly possible he's mixed up a detail or two.

The basic narrative we all pretty much agree on though. Negotiations between Saints and Koeman were going well, Everton offered Koeman big money (both in his pay packet and to spend), Koeman likely went back to Saints but they weren't prepared to up their offer, Koeman is likely to end up at Everton.

What you believe beyond that is largely irrelevant and mainly about spin, PR and which club you support.

I'm far more interested in the youth/player unhappiness/training stuff than I give a flying one about the money and Everton.

Because that stuff purports to Saints and is relevant in our moving forwards.

The twat can go to Everton on a billion a week, that he signed eight years ago in the blood of Erwin for all I care now about that side of it.

I expect proving it may be difficult but we could use Tobes statement as evidence?

Every club in the league would be in the dock if that was how it actually worked in reality

Clubs always speak to the agents otherwise they stand to have egg on their face if they make a bid that's accepted and the player or manager has no interest in joining them. These days they tend to do it via other agents so the approach isn't direct though, but the end result is exactly the same.

Sorry what was that? My irony meter just exploded
As a forum I'd say we have been pretty open to every scenario. New snippets have added to the debate. I myself don't believe the original post is 100% correct, but a lot of the info has been backed up and so I am inclined to believe it. So far you have provided nothing concrete to prove it incorrect. Until you do this is my view. If you can provide anything proper to counter it then I'll consider it.

Go back and read the stick I got when I originally came here to say that we were interested in Koeman and had been in discussions for weeks

There was little of the openess you describe there and more pitch forks and laughter at the mere suggestion.

You're a big man don't cry over the stick.
At the time it was quite laughable due to what a step down it would be, but as more details have come out there has been a far greater level of openness.
But if you want to focus on history like most of your clubs other fans then be my guest.

Because it made very little sense at the time, and we were hoodwinked by our manager who had clearly said 'no' whenever asked.

Now there's further detail it starts to make sense.

I've asked people to remain civil on this thread for your sake. That includes discipline on your part, so let's have no more of the son, pal, and any other patronising references you might like to think are fine. You're a guest here. OK laddie.? ;)

Who was crying? I took it in the chin at the time, not arsed in the slightest, but given I was right and got stoned for it, it flies in the face of what you were saying and also proves that I did have correct information at the time.
