Let's see. We've known (or suspected) the board and Koeman weren't entirely on the same page for months now: Back on 2nd January, there was a thread on Saintsweb called Koeman to Walk? where Guan (reasonably well-known ITK) posted "More likely to be escorted out." A week later Guan passed on the following, seemingly fairly directly from within the club "We are a club with multiple departments, all of which are talented in collating and reviewing information, and making recommendations based on that information. In the past, how much attention players pay to their reviews has been a good indicator to the expected level of future commitment (Lallana). At the moment, our reviews are pointing to a number of worrying factors. We are not playing to the clubs preferred formation, despite purchasing players identified as being able to do so. Our training regimes are very segregated, and our post match analysis software is pointing to mistakes being repeated time after time. The path from the youth team to the first has been apparently shut, and those parents who advised their children to choose SFC over other suitors for reasons of development and who were already angry being misled, are now furious over Koeman's public statement on the subject. SFC is not an unfeeling corporate machine, and in times of goals aplenty and top eight places there is leeway on our methods, but given that most departments have voiced concerns over the direction and atmosphere of the first team, and those who are seemingly barred from joining it, adding to Koeman's unwillingness to commit and our horrific run of results." The Mail (yeah I know) reported the apparent unhappiness of players in early April: LINK So yeah, it was said months ago that the club weren't totally happy with Koeman but would ignore those concerns while we were getting good results. It seems entirely plausible that our contract negotiations with Koeman were going okay at first. Koeman then received his massive job offer from Everton and (in a similar way to plenty of people I know) brought it to Les/whoever and basically said "Look, I've had this offer from Everton. I'd like something like this here. What will you offer in response?". Saints then say a deal has already been agreed and they won't offer anything more and Koeman goes away to think about it, his thoughts at least somewhat dependent on exactly how the later discussions with Saints went. You can spin that as Koeman is going to Everton because he over-estimated his importance to Southampton, because we aren't happy with what he's doing and/or don't want to keep him or you can spin it as Koeman is going to Everton because of their money/ambition (and make no mistake, once he finally signs for them "He went because of their ambition" is 100% guaranteed to be what we'll hear from him and Everton and probably what we'll see in the media). One thing I think everyone will agree on is that we want this all sorted out ASAP.
I think the club would put a spin on it after it goes ahead, not whilst it is still in negotiation. Saints aren't exactly amateurs in this situation.
Are you sure? Let me know if any of your legal experts know the facts, I am interested in how the League might interpret it, as tapping up or just normal business etiquette!
What the post infers is that we were not even prepared to negotiate. As if Ron expected us to shift a little bit towards the Everton deal and we didn't even do that. I had similar happen to me, I was offered a job by another company which was pretty similar in spec and they offered more money. I told my current employer and they upped my pay. It was still slightly less, but enough for me to stay at a place I knew I was happy with
On a personal note, this has been great for my social media profile & credibility. I've had likes, retweets & followers glaore all day just because I asked Adam Blackmore a question. So I'd like to thank both Everton & Ronald Koeman for that, at least!
Because every single tweet needs to be an article.... Care to show me any reputable sources backing up your amazing super fit source.
I see the media are linking RK with a couple of our players....have failed to notice that he hasn't moved yet.
From an employee of the BBC very close to the club. Your move. Add to that - a head of department employee.
The difference being that what's being said there tallies with everything we've heard to date, makes sense of the previously odd, and ties in with the current situation. What's daft is that what's being said doesn't really vary too much from what you've said, other than fleshing out details and a couple of discrepancies of timing. So not sure why you're making such a big deal out of it.
Hah, maybe not here, but you should see my Twitter likes today! I'm certainly going to be asking Blackmore about credible sounding rumours again if it gains me all these followers - the interwebs are serious business!
The timings are wrong, the details are wrong, the narrative he's added twists it in to something that's false
Tobes, do you seriously have nothing better to do on a Sunday afternoon/evening than trawl a forum for supporters of a team you don't support, while stubbornly arguing your own standpoint with no room for negotiation against other people's standpoint? Do yourself a favour, switch the device off and go and watch the Euros or spend time with the family or something.
