I'm sure it was explained before the tournament started that teams will qualify for the next stages by order of -
1 - Most points gained
2 - Head-to-haed results
3 - Goal difference
4 - Goals scored
In that order...
This can't be right, otherwise, in group E, Belgium would stand top (based on their head-to-head with Romania)

It’s clear you are desperate for somebody to agree on your anti Southgate narrative but you can’t just simply say that had England had a different manager they would’ve won the tournaments/games your referencing.
put pep in charge of England and they would still lose in the semi-final on penalties
I thought we were having a discussion. Nothing to do with needing or wanting others to like what I've said.
We've been beaten by two inferior sides in two tournaments due to poor tactics.
Can you honestly say Pep would have watched that Italy game and not make changes when we were losing the midfield in the 2nd half? He would have been on the side shouting instructions trying to out do Mancini.
And to find he's the highest paid coach makes it even more baffling.
Let's hope he shuts me up and we win tournament to justify the last 8 years and the millions he's made from it.
I can’t quite understand the bit where you are desperate for someone to agree with you, doesn’t nearly everyone agree with you apart from 2 or 3 on here, or am I missing something?
It's a shame that the daggers seem to be out for England already in the media. They're anticipating failure now and everyone is waiting to take their pound of flesh.
I found the Portugal line up really intriguing yesterday as there are some similarities with England. They have an abundance of attacking talent (Felix, Jota, Neto, Ramos all in the squad) but the decision they made was to start Paulinha alongside Vitinha in their second match. He provided that solid base and allowed Vitinha to dictate the game and let Silva further off the leash. Portugal looked more balanced.
I know we don't have a player of the calibre of Paulinha to come in but I'm starting to wonder if Wharton sitting allows Rice to be 10 yards further up the pitch and dictating the game for us.

My boss used to praise Jack Ross most games because we were winning while playing crap every week. He didn't agree with me when I said in time the results will stop and we'll then struggle.
I honestly see similarities (different levels of course) between the two. Both are ex defenders who like playing far too safe based on the squads at their disposal.
A huge ask for Wharton to step in based on the current situation. He struggled at first when stepped up to the Prem.
I still think Rice is our best holding midfielder.
