Really looking forward to the Scotland match tonight, I know they're not well liked, by some, which is fair enough. But I think if they were another tiny nation, and underdog, they'd have more support. I'm considering an invite to the Albion Bar, at Hibs, but I have work tomorrow so might just stay home ... ... it sounds like a good afternoon round Edinburgh and a cracking night but could get really messy ... ... I think I'm getting too old for all this
Tragic this. Overbearing parents, siblings or partners shouldn't be anywhere ****ing near these discussions in the camp. It is Southgate's task to choose and set up the team, he is the one paid and judged for it. They should back the **** off. If this is true it doesn't really bode well that the leaders amongst the squad aren't sending them back to their rooms.
I don’t know anybody that doesn’t actually like Scotland. Great country, great people. I love seeing them getting beat at sport for no other reason than they’re exactly the same about our national teams and it makes for good banter.
The arrogance of English fans and media. If England aren’t winning trophies then there HAS to be a reason (other than the obvious one that they aren’t good enough) such as cheating Argies, corrupt refs, unfair penalty shoot outs, unfair long throws, more penalty shoot outs, Ronaldo winking, WAGs, press intrusion, tension in the camp or Gareth Southgate. England just arent good enough. Simple as that
They are better than what their current coach is serving up. I don't expect us to win it but at least show more than what we did against Serbia and Denmark. We have Europe's golden boot winner, Europe golden boy and currently Madrid player of the season having helped them win the big double in his first year before he's 22, and the Premier Leagues player of the season stuck out on the left. England is like watching Jack Ross manage Sunderland.
It's embarrassing listening to Shearer and Mowbray tossing themselves off after we've scored both our goals, bigging the team up no end.....then nothing as the Southgate effect takes over. The amount of effort other teams are putting on and our lot hardly look like they're breaking sweat. Look at Lakuko? up front for the Belgians last night, that's called putting a shift in ffs.
I can’t help it but I like the Scottish, I know they hate England but I’m sure they hate us near the borders a little bit less. I want Scotland to win tonight even if just for the fans being great craic in Germany
England have been the same for decades. It’s nowt to do with the managers. There are other countries with far better players
I'm certainly not arguing your last point. Did Croatia have a better 11 than us when they knocked us out? Did Italy have a better 11 than us when we were 1-0 up at home to them in the Euro Final? Both occasions he failed to wrestle control in the midfield and left to too late in both games. I personally think Portugal are the best overall team in the competition. You can't rule out the Germans with them being at home and playing well. Spain will go far but lack experience in the midfield/wing and are iffy at centre back and in goal. I just think a more attacking minded manager with a little bit of tactical knowledge would have likely have at least won the Euros. I see Southgate as more of a general manager who oversees the environment and brings calm around the place. He's not a touchline coach who's going to make the changes that are needed like a Klopp, Pep, Ancelloti and Mancini. I could see Eddie Howe doing a better job at it.
Nothing to do with the manager Yep. Every manager would have only took one unfit left back to the Euros. Experimented playing a RB in CM, whilst leaving proper CM’s on the bench. Played Foden out of position and left proper left sided players on the bench. Doesn’t allow the players the freedom they have at their clubs. Of course every manager would have come in and done the same.
