Twitter's interesting reading - the retweets of the Sunday Sun backpage is in the thousands and growing. One bloke said he was at the match a couple of rows back from Pardew and didn't see or hear him say a word during the match, he claims he just looked lost.

I'd most want Rosler, I think he's the next big thing, the next Martinez/Rodgers, has German steel to add to his utter professionalism. However, unless he owns a pub in Totteridge or once worked in Maidenhead at a certain Sports shop, he won't be arriving - hell, Ashley would have to actually talk to someone in an interview. So that's out.

The fact that an "outsider" won't get the job means any list is pointless. Hence Beardsley.

Agree 100% on Rosler being the next big thing, certainly my choice as I said earlier, but Beardsley is an interesting option I hadn't given much thought too.

He was employed by Ashley, has been in charge of the reserves for almost four years and even stood in as boss, under Ashley, when Hughton was pushed. 100% this will happen. 53 now, not going to manage elsewhere. He could easily get a managerial job, you'd think - makes you wonder why he hasn't......

We have to realistic though, the "right" managers wouldn't want to work here, its a cack job. The board is ****, the budgets non existent, hell even some of support is a bit moronic and loses the plot at the first sign of trouble. I think we are basically looking at taking a gamble and hope to find some uncut diamond. Yeah Rosler is the one I'd risk.

By the right person I don't necessarily mean a big name. I mean getting someone in who can get the most out of the situation and fit the Newcastle ethos. That means somebody who can work with Ashley and know how to mange upwardly as well as the team. Pardew has probably done a lot of work in managing Ashley which could well be why JFK disappeared. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Ashley back the manager in transfer dealings far more strongly having been shown the error of not doing so. Sadly for Pardew he was too cautious in the way he did it and cos of that I don't think he'll be around to reap the benefits.

It also needs to be someone who believes in playing attractive football. Sam Allerdyce's record didn't stand out as being a lot worse than other managers. What was awful was the way we played and we don't want that. But we don't need another Keegan who will walk out when he doesn't get his own way (I know its more complicated than that but you get what I mean).

It also shouldn't just be whoever looks good for a short while (like Laudrup) or just someone who looks good today (Rosler?). Rosler might well be a good choice, but we would need to know why Wigan cannot compete with Leicester or Burnley despite having parachute payments and the core of a premier league squad. I guess I'm just worried aboutus ending back in the same place (or worse) in a few years time. How good did Pardew look after we finished 5th, or Laudrup after Swansea qualified for Europe, or Paulo Di Canio after they beat us 3-0? We've all got a warm glow at the minute when we look down the road. It's a fine line between warm glow though and picking the wrong replacement and realising this time next year that when we're relegated it will be the mackams taking our place.

Rosler took over at Wigan in December when they were closer to relegation places than the play-offs. Had he been at Wigan all season, they could well have been up there with Leicester/Burnley. Bearing in mind he also left Brentford in a very good position which they are reaping the rewards for now.

I think this has a lot to do with the comments he made after the game. I imagine he was genuinely hurt as I do believe he has a passion to succeed here. He has the demeanor of a wounded animal though and the press smell blood now. I will be in a tiny minority but I hope he doesn't end up being an object of hatred. He has given us some good times too and for me a genuine passion for the club. He is too badly wounded to carry on though after he end of the season.

I certainly wasn't saying he wouldn't be the right choice, just thinking out loud about some of the questions we need to ask - including how he would do with the known restrictions he would be under working for Ashley.

that may be the case and i for one will always will always love him for that, but some of his team selections recently boggle the mind...as i said his reliance on playing players out of position purely because they work hard just wont do in the premier league if we are to suceed...he has isolate to many of our 'game changers' and the team look so uninterested it pains me to watch week in week out

Beardsley's job title is football development manager and I though he had more involvement with the academy than the reserves

He has a fair bit of input with the reserves too i think, but I don't want this to turn into a criticism of him, as I don't care how we do in the reserves league as long as players develop. I guess I'm just saying we have no idea if he's be any good and I would hate his standing with the fans to go down (and no matter how big an idol he is it could go down if he was an unsuccessful manager)

Time to for him to go, but won't happen.

As for replacement, I wouldn't want some has been that's been around the block.
Don't see why it has to be some so called top manager. We've tried that god knows how many times and it went pear shaped.

I would like an up an coming manager wanting to prove himself in the PL.
Someone used to English football and the intensity of the game.

UWE ROSLER...

Was in the bar watching the semi and said to my pal ''Rosler would be a good appointment for us''......here's to hoping.

I agree on him being an object of hatred.
For all his faults he doesn't deserve that, and I would rather see him go with some sort of dignity.

I don't think anyone would go down that path, as long as he stuck to principles of decent football and team selection. It's not that hard - to be fair, Pardew's been given far more rope than many managers by our fans, because for the most part they understand where the real problem lies. But where Pardew has now arrived is untenable, and it's his own fault. If he'd stuck with a principal, a way of playing, he'd retain sympathy. But constant isolation of eye-catching players purely because they don't work as hard as limited individuals like Gouffran is criminal. This guy's just beyond poor, and I can't see Beardsley or anyone falling on the same sword. The thing we have to remember is that Ashley will only appoint on trust. The job has to be given to someone else, I just cannot see past Beardo as a cheap, local option. He supports the owner, has fan backing and understands Newcastle United. Anyone and everyone else is a risk. It's now just a ticking clock.

Passion ? I think the bell end wakes up every morning thinking ''how the **** did I land this gig and keep it going for so long''.As long as I ,you and Pardew lives he will never ever manage a club of our size and magnitude. He hit the ****ing jack pot when we came calling.

I'd say anyone including him is a risk. If he can encourage Ashley to build on what we have rather than make do with just enough then great. We need someone who can influence Ashley and manage upwards,a s well as - like you say - someone who can keep his head and get the basics right.

Yes passion. It doesn't always translate in the right way but one of the few things he is not guilty of is a lack of passion.

If he had dignity he would of walked.....he is constantly ass ****ed from the owner and he just takes it.In fact I think he enjoys it.Hence the lies and bull **** he spouts.....''that ones for Mikey''....****ing sap!
