In an absolute heartbeat, of course he would. At least it proves that anyone has a chance. Seen a few people saying that Puncheon should have been in there instead

Good point, I'd take Deeney over Vardy, even if he is a prick.

... I'm not sure he'll even get on ... but he's earned a crack at it in the particular circumstances ... can't really understand all the negativity ... not like we are playing Germany in the semi-final of the world cup <laugh> ... we are playing the Republic of Ireland and Slovenia FFS ... take the post above suggesting a Championship alternative ... Championship this season or last? ... when we won the league by some distance and our strike force, the most prolific in the Championship was Nugent and ....oh yes ... Jamie Vardy ....

Different type of player ... and for that reason, no I wouldn't ... Deeney hasn't got Vardy's pace and work rate and the way our team has been set up with the wing backs currently we have benefitted from Vardy's non stop harassment and closing down of opposition defenders ... Deeney would be competition for Ulloa rather than Vardy (and I like Ulloa) ... plus I'm hopeful that we will see a lot more of Kramaric next season ...

    re difference to Deeney

No way Deeney over Vardy. You can get any number of forwards like Deeney but not with the pace and desire of Vardy

Our 352 seems to be a lot less effective since losing Long, who's a similar sort of player. I think that pace up front is vital in the 352

This is just funny. You'd rather have a player who runs around a lot rather than a goalscorer. I'd immediately swap Deeney for any one of our strike force

Lol you whinge all last season that the England squad is picked on name and not form, because your Hull lot weren't getting in (Curtis Davis et al)

Now Woy has given some form players a go, in two meaningless friendlies... And you're whinging still <doh>

I don't think people mind that Austin and Heaton are in the team. Austin should have been in it months ago based on his performances. The issue is that Vardy has got 4 goals all season and quite frankly, he doesn't deserve to be included and shouldn't be in the squad

The difference is, last season at least, Davies was amongst the best in the league in his position.

I appreciate what Vardy brings to a dour anti football side like Leicester or ourselves, but England? Jog on.

Charlie Austin isn't good enough either.

I appreciate the fact that a good amount of talent is at the u21's but this could have been a chance to bring in some slightly older talent that may actually have a future in the national team. Vardy just doesn't, imo neither does Austin, these are just token call ups wasting what could be vital experience on the international stage for others.

I sort of agree, the way Vardy plays, while effective for Leicester, isn't really representitive of how England play. I'd have taken Peter Crouch back in, as his record for England is very good and he's a nightmare for defenders at set pieces. I'd have taken Jonjo Shelvey, I think he's had a cracking season at Swansea and has been the heart beat of their midfield for some time.

For Vardy to be in the England squad means that he's the best in his position that we can call upon at this moment in time, it's only because the likes of Sturridge, Ings, Kane and Berahino aren't available that he's there. It does not make him one of the best four English strikers in the country, which is what I've been hearing from some of my Leicester supporting mates.

Don't know how you can say Austin isn't good enough. He's playing for the worst team and has scored 4th most in the league.

Why didn't any of our lads get called up last season, Curtis Davies was 100 times more worthy of a call up then Vardy is now, so he's been good for 8 games, that isn't a season!

There are players who can play up front, and at some point I'm sure will do, classes as midfielders. Sterling and Walcott for starters. Why not bring in Zaha, Shelvey, Jack Grealish ffs!

    It really is ridiculous.

Woys a joke, a pathetic excuse for England manager, today just proves it again, we have no chance at any big tournament with him in charge, qualifying is a minimum requirement for the job
