A interesting story seems to have appeared on CL this morning. Apparently the Club has decided development squad players (kids and teenagers) will no longer be served breakfasts. This is presumed to be part of cost-cutting measures, and it being blamed on the ever popular Tony Keohane. Does anybody here know anything about this? Is it actually true?
The story was confirmed by Fidel Everitt. In the great scheme of things, it’s not as urgent as getting a manager, some players, a new owner and a new CEO before the season starts, but it’s emblematic of a negligent wantaway owner hellbent on cutting costs further. Next week: the half time oranges, replaced by grapes.
I know as a club you have had a difficult few years, however, this article must fill you with pride. https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...ball-leagues-top-talent-factory-a3474676.html it sounds as though your academy is very much self financing.
It finished Charlton 2 Birmingham 2. Charlton went two goals ahead in the first half through Carey and Doughty. Birmingham pulled one back in the first half. Birmingham were the more threatening team in the second half and scored their equaliser from a corner. It seems that the U23s can't hold onto a lead. XI: Maynard-Brewer, Yao, Cummings, Stevenson, Mascoll, Dempsey, Sarpong-Wiredu, Junior, Doughty, Trialist, Carey. Subs: Osaghae, Blumberg, Isiaka, Ocran, Anderson

New Goalkeeper coach for the academy http://dailycannon.com/2018/10/deren-ibrahim-leaves-arsenal-for-charlton-athletic/ Welcome Deren
Excellent Coach. A Dartford supporter mate of mine said what a good coach he is. A decent keeper as well. He has a difficult act to follow, Lee Smelt did well for us over a number of years.
It finished Charlton 1 Coventry 2. At a cold Sparrows Lane Charlton took a first half lead when Hackett- Fairchild finished off a good left wing cross from Wiberforce Okran. Charlton took that lead into half time. But Coventry started well in the second half and after about 65 minutes they were awarded a penalty when their player was tripped in the box. Maynard - Brewer made a good save low to his left. Two minutes later Coventry were awarded another penalty for a trip. This was converted by another player to the goalkeepers right. Coventry got their winner just before full time with a tap in. Maynard- Brewer, Sarpong-Wiredu, Bowry, French, Mascoll Anderson, Dempsey, Maloney, Quitirna, Okran, Hackett- Fairchild. Subs Harvey,Carey, Doughty, Vennings, Barton Spoke to Joe Aribo and he is progressing well. He is walking without a limp.
A good win today for the under 23s against second in the table Crystal Palace. A very experienced Charlton team took the game to Palace and took the lead with a great half volley from Taylor Maloney from just outside the area. Maxwell didn't have a save to make in the first half. Palace came out for the second half and had more of the play. They equalised when a free kick outside the area took a deflection off the Charlton wall and wrong footed Maxwell. Charlton went ahead fortunately when a Palace player diverted the ball past his goalkeeper. Right on full time Fosu made it 3-1 with a breakaway goal. Vetokele got 45 minutes and spent half time doing short sprints. Maxwell Dijksteel, Bowry, Stevenson, Mascoll Sarpong- Wiredu, Marshall, Maloney, Lapslie, Fosu Vetokele Subs Maynard - Brewer, Aucharia, Yao, Dempsey, Kennedy
