From the outside looking in, this makes CTWD ... and by extension, Hull itself look a bit naff.
So this Mark Gretton bloke, he's a chairman of a supporters group, supposedly respected, thought to have a decent head on his shoulders, got good judgement, an academic, holds down a job at Hull University .. let's just say "a better option than the rest of CTWD" ..... it all seems a bit toy town if you ask me. Supporters campaign about weightier issues ... Wimbledon got press coverage because their club was going to be moved to a different part of the country. That's fair enough. We all know Portsmouth's problems and I'd City Hull City becoming the next Portsmouth without a munificent benefactor.
CTWD look a bit like kids in a playground saying "Allam started it" and "oh, we're so offended and hurt that the club's name might be altered" whilst they have a right to call the guy who pumped dosh into their club, saved it then took it higher than ever .... whatever they want. Sorry CTWD, it doesn't work like that.
You may say "why should we care what you think?" ... well, supposedly, you're a pressure group and ... you seem clueless ... for a start, get a chairman who doesn't post stuff like this then you MIGHT ... just MIGHT get taken seriously enough to influence public opinion ....
... there is also the pathetic assertion that singing makes you a bigger and better fan of a football club .... and I've read some references on this topic suggesting that all the money fans have put into Hull City is worth more than Allam's millions ... well 1. Without Allam's millions, there would be no club. Would that be a better tribute to all City's fans? 2. I reckon most of the fans, past and present on whose behalf you claim to be bleating and engraving hip flasks didn't sing. Most pensioners at City don't sing, don't sit in the corner of the East Stand and certainly wouldn't approve of the hip-flask or anyone trying to say it was a good idea or a good thing ... the idea it might be an OK idea if it was owned by the leader of a supporters' trust .... come on ... you're showing up the club, the fans and, to be honest, the city you seem to be trying to elevate and draw attention to ... with City of Culture 2017 ahead ... all you need is a few more Mark Grettons and, even if you don't do much comedy during 2017, people will be laughing their heads off at you. Hull's a great place with fabulous people, a great football club run by a guy who doesn't appear to be Robert Maxwell, Ken Bates, Roman Abramovich, The Glazier Family, Stephen Hinchcliffe, David Lloyd, Russell Bartlett etc ..... why isn't that enough for CTWD and no, I refuse to accept that a chairman of such a pressure group is "pro Allam" if he has such a hip flask and I doubt if the supporters' group he leads can be "pro Allam" either.
