We tend to have this conversation every 6-12 months or so imo and it always ends up the same way, both sides will project and speculate on what would have happened had he stayed with no one knowing for sure. I just like to thank him for what we done as he without doubt is a HUGE reason why we are where we are, but acknowledge the time was probably right and was uneasy about how it was going.
Is it really every 6 months that someone posts this troll thread? I must've missed it before.

European football was also mentioned, sustainability was for the future. I'm very certain that Nicola was more privy to how Markus wanted the club run than Katharina and probably anyone else. You're speculating abut him getting carried away when there's nothing to suggest that.

We're all speculating because none of us were there. Not one of us has a clue what was discussed between Markus and Nicola or with Katharina for that matter. We can only speculate on the snippets of information (which may or may not be true) that are on the internet.

No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man. (Heraclitus), never go back to an ex(me), and the kicker is that a sequel is usually worse than the original. In short, Cortese was good for us, but has gone now. We've redecorated, got new friends and have moved on

I do agree Rorschach but there are exceptions to returning to a previous home such as Defoe going back for a second spell at Tottenham (and now Bournemouth), Harry returning to Fratton Park to lead PFC to FA Cup glory, Mike Channon didn't do too badly in his second stint. And now Rooney has returned to his roots. Agree with you, Rooney will return wiser and a better player so Everton have a lot to gain.

Come on guys lets not think of going backwards.....Bringing Cortese back would be exactly that. His style of leadership would not be tolerated by the current board. (If they actually existed that is after the take over.) Assuming Kat would hold on to her 20% Some of them at least would be asked to stay I would have thought but there would always be mayhem because of his management style.
Can't see it personally...............

Can we at least leave her out of this discussion?

You're using players as examples, bit different to Cortese ever being in control at Saints again. The man was a complete bastard, but was our bastard just when we needed one - we don't need another one now, and certainly not the same one. Imho

You sure about that? Big fan of Les, but I'm not sure he gets that much backing. I reckon he's telling the others we need to stick.

Socrates was a legend, Wayne had the world at his feet & fell short. When he looks back at all his great achievements, he will have some regrets.

I hope he doesn't. What more could he have achieved at Manchester United? Maybe we are thinking of his England career? That is a complete waste of time as most who have played for England have found it a waste of time because of: Add your own opinions but I think the international calendar has just become so overloaded that it leaves the players totally drained. Instead of group stages to get the teams to qualify for the finals of the WC or EC, just have a straight knock out competition. So if England play Israel and lose, it is annoying for five minutes then we just forget! When our club team loses that is a different matter.

Rooney was an awesome player until Andrade stamped on his foot in that tournament. Up to that point he took players on through sheer strength rather than pace and after he was never the same player as before. I don't think the smoking has too much to do with it. Ginola smoked like a chimney and he wasn't too bad.
