Without NC there would have been no ML
Indeed. I think people conveniently forget that. I didn't and don't condone his behaviour at times, when he was with us, but I really loved the way he stood up for the club over a lot of media hype, at certain times. If Cortese said something was going to happen or not happen things tended to work that way. Les Reed and Ralph Krueger are much easier on the ear but they are a tad lightweight compared to Cortese. Sometimes we could do with his approach

Have him back.? No, I think it's a bit late for that. Unless he gets involved in his own takeover.

European football was also mentioned, sustainability was for the future. I'm very certain that Nicola was more privy to how Markus wanted the club run than Katharina and probably anyone else. You're speculating abut him getting carried away when there's nothing to suggest that.

And you're speculating that he was doing things Markus'way after his death.

Neither of you know, but you can't point the finger of speculation and then use it yourself.

I have always been extremely grateful for what Cortese did for this club. I'll always remember that fondly. I loved the way he came across with a no **** attitude.

I was nervous at how things appeared to be heading.

I have no true knowledge of why Katherina stopped him, only what was said publicly. No point guessing. He's gone. He did the job while he was here. We moved on.

To be fair it wasn't just women he treated badly, it was everyone?
Why I said how much **** he caused..

But he didn't treat guys like objects, like he did women. Like how he forced the dress code etc

He didn't get sacked, he walked because Kat wanted to limit his control. Who knows how he would have done these last four years. But assuming he would have done dreadful carries the same credence as assuming he would have done something wonderful.
He could have that glass elevator in the training complex, just for him to lord over people.

It's basically:

Cortese:
Treats players like gods
Wasn't afraid of spending cash
Wouldn't sell players (apart from Shaw)
Non playing staff hated him
Treated non playing staff like ****
Legends etc all got pushed out

Probably:
We would probably be in Europe
We would have loans everywhere

Vs how Kat is

Come on guys lets not think of going backwards.....Bringing Cortese back would be exactly that. His style of leadership would not be tolerated by the current board. (If they actually existed that is after the take over.) Assuming Kat would hold on to her 20% Some of them at least would be asked to stay I would have thought but there would always be mayhem because of his management style.
Can't see it personally...............

We have been in Europe since he left though. We have had one season that could be considered poor....and then we finished 8th (admittedly with fewer points than we'd like) and got to Wembley. It has hardly been catastrophic since he left.

It seems to me that some people think that having big cojones is more important than anything else
I think there may be another way to be successful

Edit: Cortese WAS the right man at the right time

If he does return, he will not enter through the front door - he will simply materialise in the boardroom, in a puff of smoke, smelling of sulphur and violets, and wearing the most expensive ****-off watch in the world.

<laugh>

We tend to have this conversation every 6-12 months or so imo and it always ends up the same way, both sides will project and speculate on what would have happened had he stayed with no one knowing for sure. I just like to thank him for what we done as he without doubt is a HUGE reason why we are where we are, but acknowledge the time was probably right and was uneasy about how it was going.
