It’s a very good point. Service and care industry could be seriously impacted with the rapid spread, and it seem as though it’s just going to increase. Most of industry will have been planning the wind-down before Christmas, but will be feeling the impact for sure. Keep safe everyone.
And so it starts again : Mrs was due to go see Deacon Blue at the weekend - postponed TBC, due to Omicron. So using her example, that's a hotel night cancelled, restaurant booking cancelled, bars not getting two pissed up women on a Christmas night out cancelled - the Hydro holds about 8,000 and was sold out so would've been a nice earner for all those places just before Christmas....thank **** I got the last of my gigs in last weekend. Big rumours through some NHS contacts that the next Lockdown will start on Jan 6th - ****in joy
I was due to pop over to France ( although I have been undecided) but today France is basically stopping it.
I'm hoping to get down to see family at new year, and maybe catch the Bristol City game....let's see what happens
I think that’s more likely in Scotland than England mate. 6th of January is way too late for lockdown anyway, if the purpose is to reduce spread. This thing is exponential.
Christmas is the most important thing. If we can delay lockdown until after the Rotherham game that would also be handy.
Okay 24 hrs after my jab... Haven't had any problems but I took the advice of Drs who said take tablet every 4 hrs for a day after. When I went to bed last night it just felt a little tender but nothing to worry about. Still want to know more about Pfizer.
It won't happen in Scotland until Sunak dips his hand in his pocket and reintroduces Furlough I'd think - Sturgeon may be headstrong and annoying at times, but she's not that stupid
Just UK and Ireland I think, Glasgow was to be last show of the tour, homecoming gig and all that....think it was supposed to be last year too
Talking of France and banning UK Travelers, in our small town during the last few days I've seen a French Registered car and several UK Registered cars going around....... no doubt all visiting family, but feck me at a time like this is it really necessary? Jab update from yesterday........ arm a bit sore, bit of a restless night's sleep, and a bit lethargic, but other than that feel fine, haven't had to take any paracetamol, so all good..........
Makes no difference now Trammers, if you’ve got a few cases spread in the community you’ve got the whole show, it spreads so fast. Only good thing for us is that we are ahead of the curve, just a shame it will bugger up Christmas.
I'm due to go to a 'gig' on Sunday which I'd be happy to see cancelled. My Mrs booked tickets for Alfie Boe's Les Miserables stage show this time last year, which got cancelled. She could have got a refund, but was offered the chance to re-book for this year, which she did. Now we've just realised that the new booking is for Alfie Boe and Michael Ball in concert at the O2. I quite like Les Mis, so was happy enough to go along to that, but neither of us wants to go to the Boe And Ball thing.
Is that right? On the Beeb this morning they said the ban would not apply to people who were registered owners of homes in France provided you had the necessary tests/Covid pass/ proof of triple vaccination. That sounds plausible to me but check online. You might struggle getting back though if you try the scenic dinghy route back with lotsa companions who don't speak much English sharing a few life jackets thoughtfully provided by your 'travel agent'. I think they give you a whistle and there is a tube fitted if you need to top it up.
I think it only applies to residents of France. I have a second home there but I'm not a resident so I can't go. My wife spoke to her friend who is returning next week and they want all her French residency papers. TBH I was looking forward to our Christmas Day walk and not seeing another person but sitting infront of a log fire but peoples safety is more important as I can do that stuff after Christmas.
