@Ubedizzytoo has a mischievous sense of humour.
I do. Very dry and tongue firmly in cheek.

I think DA for many, many years talked beautifully about nature and the destruction that humans do and I totally agree with his sentiments on those issues. No arguments from me.

I think in more recent years he has become much more outspoken on climate change issues and he has certainly spoken a lot about it, very much supporting the idea that it is an emergency or crisis. I guess as someone who accepts climate change, but doesn’t see it as an emergency or a crisis in the way that he and others do, that’s where our differences are. As we’ve all pretty much come to agree on here, the facts are incontrovertible, it’s just the inevitability of the future predictions that we differ on I think.

The polar bear issue has been rammed down people’s throats for years so when we now find that polar bears are actually thriving as a result of the warming planet, instead of dieing out as predicted, I can’t resist a little teasing. Not saying that means it’s a hoax at all (and I literally have never said that) just that the doom laden predictions are basically just guesses and can easily be wrong (as in the case so well highlighted by my chubby Ursid friends).

Goodness, where to start ? Who to believe ? Was the original panel biased and influenced by ‘green’ energy supporting, leftie scientists ? Is the latest panel influenced by oil industry supporting, right wing scientists ?

It is interesting that when countries like the US or UK do scale back manufacturing to reduce emissions, the trade just moves to China/India etc where it is then produced in a less environmentally friendly way and has to be transported back over thousands of miles, further increasing emissions. Does seem that unless all global manufacturing powers abide by the same standards then being a pioneer is pointless and self defeating.

Trust no one ?

Being a pioneer is not always pointless.
The UK began the man-made large scale pollution of Earth during the Industrial Revolution. I expect for a couple of generations we were the biggest polluter on the planet.

But we also led the way - and then led the change of direction and reform in another facet of that era - Slavery.
I expect at the time many wealthy businessmen argued that abolishing Slavery would harm the UK economy, as other competing Nations would continue to exploit slave labour to their advantage, and we would fall behind.

But still (after centuries of shame) Britain led the way among the Colonial powers in the advancement of the abolition of Slavery.
Because it was morally the right thing to do, even if not economically the best thing.

Perhaps cutting harmful emissions & pollution (regardless of whether that pollution does contribute to Climate change) is the morally right thing to do. And Britain once again should lead the way, even at some cost to our Economy.

History will judge us, when all the misinformation and disinformation and fake news is swept away.

Agree. But how do you decipher what is and isn’t misinformation and disinformation and fake news. There are huge profits to be made whichever direction we go. As I say, Trust No One.

My moral compass works pretty well. A product of my upbringing & education.
Yours does as well, I am sure - as do those of a vast majority of ordinary, down-to-earth good folk.

Deep down, I think we know what is the right thing to do.
But the right thing is rarely (if ever) the easiest thing. It often takes us along a path to difficulty and maybe even pain.
How much can we afford to listen to our conscience?
For everyone that question has a different answer.

Life on Earth (1979) was the definitive work in my opinion.
A masterpiece.

Would love to see that series re-made now, with all the latest cinematic style effects and camera options which were not available 47 years ago.

Funny, but I hate the newer stuff with the virtual reality shots and AI. The older stuff was so much better and real. I don’t want to see shots from a fake bird looking around at his mates while they supposedly soar on their way to their migratory home.

If it can’t be filmed naturally, I’d rather not see it.

I agree, no unreal footage.
The Planet Earth episodes from about 12 to 15 years ago were visually beautiful.
But if fake stuff has been creeping in recently, that's not good.

I wasn't overly taken with some of the themes of the recent 'Kingdom' series.
Seemed to project a bit too much Human type motivation & values onto the animals.
They just do what they do. No agonizing, no soul-searching.

Unfortunately most of DA’s more recent works are virtual reality, augmented reality and CGI. It’s part of the reason I have gone off of him. And yes, animals don’t think like humans so please stop all the narration which suggests that they do. DA obviously knows better but he’s allowing himself to be dumbed down for the :emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash:.

I can’t keep up.

February and there’s unusual blizzards and two feet of snow in New York but we’ve got 16C and warm, pleasant sunshine on Wednesday.

Climate change or just the statistical inevitability of picking particular weather events to fit your viewpoint ?

If it is climate change then we in the UK are being dealt a very good hand with these much milder winters we have now.
