I'm with you on this. I think it's a good deal all round.

£20m (with add-ons) for a 29 year old player who has have given us some great performances and vital goals, but who desperately wanted to leave, is the right thing - and we get around £15m 'net profit' to re-invest.

Yes, we should aim to hold on to such players, But i genuinely think that if we'd held on to him, it would have negatively impacted his play. He really wants CL football and at his age (and the form he's been in) now is his best chance of securing that. Good luck to him.

We now move on and build the squad up again with the cash. That's where we are in the football hierarchy. We won't sign big AND hold on to our best players.

Agree with all of this. We really need to keep perspective. We've lost one player who didn't want to play for us anymore and been handsomely reimbursed. He's not as good as Mata and a lot older (in football terms). I think we could have done a lot worse out of this.

We're ****ed.
We will sell Krul and Santon too tomorrow.
Then get relegated and have to live in the trenches to fight against the alien eye stealers.

Get him or Cabella. Please

I can see that fat little bastard Craig reporting on friday 'I'm happy to report Charlie Adam has passed a medical...' just as a pack of ravenous, rabid stray dogs tear the ****er apart.

That tombstoned teethed prick better not.... Of I'll be the chav with the Stella turning behind him...

Grenier comments from a few minutes ago "I haven't confirmed I'm staying at Lyon, in football things can change very quickly".

Gonna go to the wire.

I'm guessing he was careful with what he said on his previous statement as he was being asked the question as he attended a Lyon arranged awards ceremony.

It's probably a case of our first bid has been rejected and the whole thing is resting on us upping our offer. He'll listen to what we can offer him if Lyon accept a bid.

I'm feeling pretty good about this actually. He'll be guaranteed first team football week in and week out at the number 10 so he'll still be on good display for Deschamps.... That last comment could have meant nothing, or it could mean he knows he's on his way. Tomorrow will be interesting.

We wait with baited breath.

Jean Michel Aulas the Lyon President confirms he has rejected two offers from England for Clement Grenier. #OL #NUFC

Kinnear probably offered £10m.... then £10.1m.
We should stop pissing about and pay the asking price.

According to the rumour mill Aulas has briefed French media to say that they will not accept less than £12million. We are bidding around £10million.

we should pay the bloody money.
He's dropped from £14m to £12m which is a fair price.

Agree. We all like to see NUFC hold out for more cash when bids come in for our best players, so why shouldn't it be the same when we bid? We were spoilt with the likes of Tiote & Cabs signing for under £5m each. You can't do that every time. From what I've seen / heard of Grenier, around £12m would be a fair price for this lad in the current market. If we don't, then somebody else will. We need to fill the gap from Cabaye and it would be a huge boost to get this lad.

Plus, it would mean swapping a 29 year old French international for a 23 year old French international and bagging £7m - £8m too. Come on, sort it out!
