Thats premiership team then add maguire, bruce, akpom, maloney, moses plus some of the young players we have never had a stronger championship squad

I wouldn't fancy their chances against Leicester Tigers or Saracens.

No. Although they seem to be saying that Jelavic is something like £2.2m.
I think more clubs are bothered about the wages than the transfer fees although obviously both matter.

Not a chance, we signed him in January for £7m, there's no chance we'd have put in a release clause that would allow us to lose him 6 months later along with £5m.

If his release clause was low, I seriously doubt he'd be here now.

So everything might be OK or it might be a disaster?

Pretty much. It's clear that SB's hands are somewhat tied in terms of bringing players in and of how much he has to spend. We clearly need to offload a striker before bringing in a new one for example and that points to a nervous last day of the transfer window.

That's not the point. We're a Championship team, we therefore have a Championship squad.

We signed him in January 2014 so you have missed a year.

We got relegated last season and then lost some expensive players and bought some cheap players and a couple of loanees. I don't call that a Premier League squad.

But we aren't in the PL. We have a very good championship squad and if we keep everyone then I am more than confident of a top 6 finish. We will only need a PL squad if we are successful in gaining promotion.

Sadly, injuries can make a big difference.
I think who we released in the summer and Quinn choosing Reading over our offer shows our intentions.
Not signing a hugely overpriced player and not keeping hold of Quinn who subsequently went to a below average Reading team really shows how little we want promotion. Come on chap get a grip. Look at our team when we went up last time, hardly world beaters. Just relax and enjoy our team winning a few more games than last year.

I think Reading offered Quinn a 3 year deal which we weren't prepared to do. Hard as it was to see players like Rosenior and Mcshane released you can understand (given our history of financial meltdowns) exactly why it was done. We are in the championship, the ££££££ is in the PL so we have to cut our cloth.

If we have a "Championship squad" we are unlikely to get promoted. Teams who get promoted from the Championship usually have a first team who could be in a Premier League squad. When they get promoted they would then get about half a new first team squad, the rest of the team are from the promoted first team and the rest are released or move to being squad players.
