Techically Abel isn't bad at all, but it's his work rate and inability to have an impact in most games which is why he's pretty crap. The quicker he's gone the better and his attitude in pre season has been nothing short of disgraceful. I wouldn't be surprised if the keepers moved further than him in the last couple of games

I do wish people wouldn't rave on about Long as if he was some sort of goal machine - he was decent, a good player, but he wasn't ****ing World Class.
I'm quite surprised we've not had a try at getting Bakary Sako... as apparently he's out of contract.
I think OOT was referring to the period after Sherwood took over, he changed their style of play from keep ball to counter attacking.

Fair enough - just saw that nobody had taken him up. If we're serious about wanting to get back up, and staying up; maybe we want to be attracting players of his quality.
He wants £80k a week, we wouldn't sign him if we were still in the Premier League, never mind the Championship.
He doesn't have a club yet because he's been asking for £60k pw, think WBA are close to signing him though for £40k pw

Hernandez has the potential to be a very good player and we definitely didn't get anywhere near the best out of him.
We played an awful system last year and Bruce (myth of a good manager) consistently made glaringly obvious tactical, formation and selection errors all season.
Strikers thrive on consistency and confidence. He was never going to get that when he was barely given a chance in a negative and illogical failing system. He never got an opportunity and I would put more of the blame for Hernandez failure on Bruce.
The majority of the squad were a shambles last year and Hernandez has been made a scapegoat because of his price tag.
There is no coincidence that quite a few decent clubs are in for him and he is even linked with Napoli. And there is no coincidence he is continually picked for his country who do well in the World Cup and have players like Suarez in their team.
I have no doubt he would be a massive success in the Premier League playing in the right system. And I have no doubt he would be a success in the Championship.
Problem with Hernandez is that he is everything wrong with modern football.
An over paid and lazy prima madona who thinks he is way better than he is and is much more interested in the luxury lifestyle than hard work and success.
The kind of player who sulks when he doesn't get his own way and only turns up mentally when he can be bothered. His mind would always be elsewhere regardless of the club he played at.
Hernandez can be as good as he wants to be but his mentality will always hinder his career. Sort of in the same bracket as Ben Afra.
What's really pissing me off about Abel is I defend him to the nth degree. But he continually shows disrespect to the club and the fans by being so vocal about wanting to leave.
I saw him recently in town in Tesco with an entourage of idiots. Flouncing around like an A list celebrity, looking around for approval. Quite sickening to think his transfer fee and wages combined probably cost the same as the Tescos did.

The italian leagues are awfully weak now and they play a very different way to us. He wasn't given a run in the side because of his performances and probably how he was in training. When he did play he was virtually non-existent apart from continually missing sitters.
He was a bad buy but we didn't have much time in the window left and we'd been turned down by other targets

All entitled to our own opinions and I point out his flaws as well as his potential so it was hardly a biased post.
Also Juventus made it to the Champions League final beating lowly Real Madrid to get there... The Italian league is improving again.
For me it's a case of what came first. The egg or the chicken. He needed game time to gain confidence and he didn't get that. Other players last season were just as ineffectual in their role but featured much more prominently.
