How come Long did so well then?

When we buy proven quality we get proven quality, and that's what Gray is. Hernandez was a gamble, and it turns out he's ****, nothing to do with style of play.

I think that "Karl Brown" is our kid's bird in the club shop, with a masculine name to throw us off of the scent. You heard it first here another exclusive from Mr Hatem.

Shane Long was much quicker, more determined and has a sharp reaction time
Plus he formed a partnership with Jelavic

That's our (and you have to think he will be for some time) record signing you're talking about!

I think back to the quickly taken free kick by N'Doye that left him 1on1 with the keeper. The rest was classic Abel.

Really? He scored 4 goals in 15 in the Premier League for us which isn't bad, but quite often he missed absolute sitters, do you not remember Trencin at home? I'll refresh your memory... (2/3 sitters in this game)

Long was all hustle and bustle, nothing like Hernandez. Long was the perfect type of striker to fit our dour negative approach to the game, Hernandez wasn't.

Jelavic was as bad for Everton under Martinez as Hernandez was for us. Is Jelavic **** as well? Or just in a team playing a way that didn't suit him?

Hernandez really has great potential, but he is completely wasted here playing under Bruce. If he was at a team like Villa that play quickly on the break he would do really well.

Villa scored a mere 31 goals last season.

Apart from the villa bit I agree, it was a pointless signing because he's the wrong kind of player for the crap system we played. Somebody like Gestede or Rhodes, who are a bit more physical, would have been money better spent.

Anybody expecting Hernandez to come in and score 20 goals was always going to be bitterly disappointed, he's only ever managed double figures once and that was in Series B. No doubt he'll do well in Italy where he feels comfortable.

I wish it had worked out because I think he's a good player, it's not his fault we had to pay loads for him and we certainly didn't use him as best we could.

Good luck to him wherever he ends up.

Would that be the same Aston Villa who scored the second lowest number of goals in the Prem last season?
