Douggie freedman has come out today telling forest fans to calm down and he will sign the right players when very are avalible.

I reckon the players we are after know we want them and are lined up (cant admit to tapping up cant we), just the non-sale of bigger earners has hampered tjings.

I think brady, and possibly two strikers will be gone or close to gone, this will be when the budget can be formilised.

I think chester to everton coild be a goer too

Do Everton have money to spend?

I don't think any of those issues affect anyone on game day. Once the whistle goes your focus - especially as a professional - will be on the game. Even as an amateur running around with mates, if I'm having a ****ty day or a tough time at uni or whatever, as soon as the whistle goes I'm not thinking about anything else.
A professional footballer playing in the Premier League needs incredible focus. I'm not sure that is easy if you have big issues in your personal life. The behind the scenes cam on Tigers Player showed how focused and vital those two 45 minute periods were. Considering each player only has a few minutes actually affecting play their concentration has to be practically perfect. I don't think it comes near to that of "an amateur running around with mates". If you consider players/clubs who do well then attitude seems to be a lot more important than basic skill levels.

I'm not saying it's directly comparable, but I'm also not getting paid hundreds of thousands, with access to club therapists and other vast resources to help me.

So you are a believer that getting paid a lot of money means that you shouldn't be affected by personal problems and therapists can solve any problem?

I'm a believer that when it's my job to perform on a football field, and I have personal issues, and I know how much said personal issues could have an impact, I tell someone I don't think I'll be able to perform as well as I should be able to.

But seriously, we've had it here in Aus with a doping scandal, and all the former players have said that once the players around whom the scandal surrounds take the field, that's the last thing they'd be thinking about. These are ex-pros, I think they know a thing or two about how off-field issues impact on-field ability.

Now Sydney, you know thats a load of bollocks you wrote, because if you took any notice of the Essendon Drug scandal that has been dragging on for 3 years now you would have noticed that the issue is affecting the players in the team, that much so, that the captain Jobe Watson thought about giving the game away.
You also might have noticed that the team aren't performing anywhere near their capabilities

Not getting why this meeting has to be thursday, times ticking to our first game of the season , the squad needs sorting asap i thought it would be common sense to get your main business done before the friendlys so new signings have time to gel instead weve signed nobody, more are likely to leave and our pre season games have begun

Seems like alot of organisation from the higher powers at hull city is non existent, should of had this thursdays meeting a month ago to discuss whats available to build the squad for the coming season.

The thing is how do you organise your budgets when you have so many players that could leave at anytime.
A month ago all the budget is used paying the current squad, a month later they've all gone and its a scramble to get players in. Or if you take a chance and give bruce a budget to buy players and some of the current squad don't leave then we are over budget and in the ****. Strange position to be in

Moot points but I believe Steve Bruce's hands are tied until we offload a few of our current side. There has been much speculation about N'Doye and Brady but as yet there has been no folding stuff. We got a few quid off Ince and I believe there is three quarters of a million off the sale of Cairney but we'll need much more than that.
It is big ask for a team to bond with less than three weeks to kick-off but maybe we are sticking to what we have.

In our Championship promotion season, we signed Meyler, Brady, Aluko, Bruce, Quinn, Amos, Stockdale and Boyd. In fact in our first Pl season he signed Davies, McGregor, Graham, Huddlestone, Livermore, Harper and Long. I wouldn't say he has a record for signing foreign players more than any other manager.

Am I missig something here,

Meyler, Brady, Quinn, McGregor and Long are all foreign, are they not?

It's never easy for any club other than the top 8 in the Premier League.
Promoted clubs have to bring lots of Premier League quality players. Most clubs risk the top clubs picking off their best players. The relegated clubs risk their best players getting picked off. The wages and transfer funds in can change dramatically at any time. Jelavic, Hernandez and N'Doye can go at any time. That would make a big difference to the financial situation. What would happen if they don't go? It's worry about who was released - except for Quinn they released everybody they could. It seemed to be about money (even in Quinn's situation although he would have had issues about selection as well). McShane and Quinn going wouldn't have helped Brady thinking it was worth staying.
NB Tom Ince is still in the squad on the OWS!

It's not time to worry yet....we've still got a v strong starting 11 available to us, esp when you compare to the starting 11 from when we went down last time. Depth of squad is an issue, but doens't have to be sorted by opening day, can be worked on until the end of Aug and then almost continually with loan signings too
