Has he said he doesn't want to play for us?Financially it's a fantastic deal for someone who's been a failure in the PL and who doesn't want to play for us.
Neither Palace or us played him enough, there has to be a reason for it.
We're not playing Football Manager ffs, this is real money. You don't spunk over £14m on one player in the Championship, there's absolutely no guarantee that his signing would be enough to get a club promoted, as Blackburn have proved over the past three seasons.
He'll go to Premier League anyway.

I think I'm going to leave this board.
I think Bruce is a bellend so I'm going to follow in the footsteps of Paul and Steve, who also think Bruce is a bellend, and go join Reading.
So here's a transfer rumour - Bob to Reading on a FAT.

I agree in keeping him. He's proven at this level and if he can bag 15-20 goals (Which history suggests he is more than capable of) then we have saved ourselves a sizeable transfer fee.

Exactly. We should play him up front, with someone in the ilk of Rhodes (not him necessarily) as his foil.
But like many before him, we'll foolishly let him go. I am just staggered that the club let him go with this stupid clause in his contract for £4.75m. I mean, imagine him going there and playing really well and getting 11 goals in 18 games. Can you imagine the value of a player with that goals to games ratio being less than £8m? I can see why Derby want to sign him, they see City as being run by simpletons.

It's not acceptable in my opinion, unless we can buy a midfielder that can score 15-20 goals for us for £4.75m or less. Our track record proves we carnt buy a striker to do that never mind an English midfielderIt's only acceptable IF the money is put back into buying players
