Bugger, if it was timber you could have just put 10mm battens on the concrete, would have raised the floor level but would have saved a **** load of work
I work in a Cancer Care Hospice, and all the patients rooms have double patio doors which lead into an enclosed garden. Every year the maintainence lads make something festive to go in the garden, and this year they have made this. It's about 6 feet high, and about 20 feet in length. I will put up some more pics when all the other things are put out from previous years. I think it looks great.
The bandstand at the right of the picture above was transformed into Santa's workshop last year. What a job they done...looks so real. It's quite humbling to think they do this, not because they have to, but because they want to. The patients love looking out on a night when it is all lit up.
It's fantastic mate....goes towards restoring some faith in humanity in general and in our society in particular.
As I said at the start of this years thread there's a great human spirit that comes out at this time of year. Lots of ordinary people are kind throughout the year but it's great to see rough tough tattooed monsters putting themselves out. I used to love to see the bin wagons decorated up at Christmas, sadly elves & safety have mainly put paid to that. Little bastards
First year since I met my missus (15 years now) I’ve not had the tree up on 1st December. Still not up yet. But we have been redecorating most of the house. Hopefully get it up tomorrow…. the tree as well…
Three men died on Christmas Eve and were met by Saint Peter at the pearly gates… “In honour of this holy season,” Saint Peter said, “You must each possess something that symbolizes Christmas to get into heaven.” The first man fumbled through his pockets and pulled out a lighter. He flicked it on. “It represents a candle”, he said. “Very well, you may pass through the pearly gates,” Saint Peter said. The second man reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of keys. He shook them and said, “They’re bells.” Saint Peter said, “You may also pass through the pearly gates.” The third man started searching desperately through his pockets and finally pulled out a pair of women’s panties. St. Peter looked at the man with a raised eyebrow and asked, “And just what do those symbolize?” "These are Carols"
Haway @Teessidemackem let's have an update on the lads. I'm just waiting for Nativity photos from my Granddaughter, she's growing up too quick so I'm making the most of it.
Update on a previous post.... The poxy lino is all up now....can't believe they glued the whole twatting lot down. Took a day off work Friday and spent that and Saturday getting the rest of it up. Had to use a multitool....slow progress!! Spent today taking all the skirting off. Screeding on Tuesday and Thurday, floor down on Friday. Definately getting the tree down on Saturday, but in the meantime I've done this...just to make it a bit "Christmassy".
That's got Mrs Smug laughing mate This Christmas tree saga is worse than our takeover ... ... lets just hope it also has a happy ending.
Update...woohoo, I have a floor! Tree down tomorrow, and pics to follow. To all the lads and lasses travelling to Ipswich tomorrow, sing your hearts out, and bring them 3 points home. Hope you all meet up with friends and have a great day out....wishing you all the very best and have a safe journey. Best wishes...
