Okay so I’m fairly set on a BMW 5 series touring for my next car. Question is, is there much improvement from the older E61 to the newer F11 ? I can pick up an older one for around £4K so is it worth the extra £3k or so for an F11 ?

Question for the car headz like Tobes, Tel, chief.etc

    Not you HIAG

For what you want I’d imagine there’s probably very little in it mate. Shape wise the old one looks a bit dated, chunky etc, now but between shagging animals in the back and storing logs I’d imagine that’s not a huge concern for ya.

As long as I can fit a goat in the boot and there’s enough room to spread its legs, then I can live with the dated design bru. Cheers.

Always liked the e61, not much wrong with that one, the one before that was the one that was completely ****e looking.

Whatever you do with a five, don't get the beige interior. You'd be wearing mesh backed driving gloves to match before you know it.

Black leather interior only. And don't buy a gold one.
    Same reason!

I had an Audi A6 all road with a cream leather interior and a dog with diarrhoea once.

That post should go in the terrible combos thread tbh

I had the older model 5 series, got it new in ‘07. Was a brilliant car that. Spend what it takes to get one with a service history would be my advice.

Got my eye on one. One owner full BMW servicing. It's an older one on an 07 plate, but going for £2495. At that price it doesn't matter if the inside is covered in sand and pissy wetsuits within a week.

525 touring so has the 2.5 engine. 186k on the clock mind. Still that's a 1/3 of what my van has done <laugh>

I think it’s a 3.0 engine and it’s an absolute dog, seems to have no power at all. That’s if it’s the same engine as the 325i from that era, I had one for a week when I sent my car in for work, just seemed to guzzle fuel like a sports car but without the ride of one. Stick to the diesel.
