The European election polls are interesting.
36% support TBP/UKIP. That is roughly the percentage support I always suspected the no deal/WTO option had. Slightly more voters support parties whose expressed position is to remain in the EU but the lead is so slight as to be statistically insignificant.
Labour have about 20% of the vote and the Tories 14%. According to BBC: "People who say they will vote Conservative are evenly split between Remain and Leave. But people who say they'll vote Labour favour Remain by about 3:1."
I'm surprised the Tories are as high as 14%, and 20% for Labour is relatively poor.
If Brexit never existed, where would the 36% be split.
Majority for the Tories, or the Labour Leave vote is higher than some choose to believe.
That would give more credence to the stance taken by the Labour leadership.
I'm not that bothered about our borders bar I'd like us to adopt a more stringent process for taking people in. The vast majority of people who come here are non EU people. So if you voted to leave because of immigration then you've been truly duped. We've always had the power to control that, we just choose not to. Hence we have probably 150,000 people go missing each year after they overstay their visa. There is probably well over a million people wandering this fine isle, and our government have no way of knowing who or where they are. That isn't on the EU.
