I'm afraid to say that it didn't go so well. I've done my knee in somehow. Had to stop before I damaged it further. I'm hoping that it's not too bad and that if I give it a weeks rest it will be alright. If not, I might have to just fall back on the miles I've got under my belt so far and try and run through the pain on race day. I'll do it if I have to hobble my way round 26 miles. Really disappointed. It's not swollen up yet so hopefully that's a good sign, but it does hurt :(

Sorry to hear that RSS. Hopee it heals quickly!

I do, and I haven`t had any major problems with joints (cue waccy baccy jokes). Both are naturally recurring products - glucosamine and condroitin for the joints, omega 3 more for the ticker. No harm in giving them a go. Try olive oil with your grub too.
I`m running the London marathon next year - its 13 April, which coincides with Mrs AberdeenSaints 50th birthday. I`ve placated her by taking her (and son and daughter) to London for the weekend. I haven`t broken it to her yet that me and AberdeenSaint Junior are nipping down to Soton for the Saints-Cardiff game on the 12th. How can I get away with it ??

Alright, I'll certainly give it a go, thanks a lot! Oh and good luck with the marathon in April! I think I've read that you've run marathons before, so fair play for having the motivation to do another! Perhaps if you suggest that Mrs AberdeenSaint and Miss AberdeenSaint go for a lovely shopping trip in London first that will help to sweeten the blow. Oh and reassurance that you won't be miserable when you get back should things not go to plan!

Thanks Lamballana. I'm resting it up at the moment and have a knee support on most of the time. It seems to be alright. A bit swollen the day I did it. But I can only feel it when I first start out walking and when I'm walking up stairs. Anyway. I'll just be careful with it. I could probably run the marathon based on the training I've done already so the worst thing I could do now is make it worse before I get the chance!! Might take on some gentle swimming next week to see how that goes down.

You've got just over a month, I believe. Rest up. You're bound to have got some power and stamina reserved in the battery by now. Swimming is the best general exercise for almost any sport. I'd certainly recommend that too.

Just read the above posts about your knee. How is it today? Ice and rest for a while, cross training as TSS recommends. Ignore my post above!

Good thinking, RSS !

Man, I played 36 holes of golf and my knees are soooo sore; I was going to
Offer to run and support you with drinks etc, but can't now :)

How's the knee?

I played enough shots to be at more than the 19th hole!!!

Had a fluke round a couple of days ago got 41 points........they are threatening to cut my handicap..........<laugh>
In truth I average around 28 points or so, so they have let me off............

I sampled your Northampton golf course a few weeks ago flt. I did ok...most of the time I managed to hit the ball.
