Hope he does well. Can anyone throw some light on the fact that he was released very quickly by Chelsea at the end of the season but we now get him and he can't play tomorrow. What's the story with the late signing? Was he hoping for a bigger team to come in?
I would guess that he and his advisers were in dialogue with a number of clubs and it simply boiled down to his pay packet, the club's ambition and the fact that he didn't have to up sticks and move his family elsewhere.
I think he wanted to stay in London for his family so if he didnt want to move too far, his choice was us or Fulham and perhaps he didnt want to play in front of 12 fans at away games.
Need to pinch myself sometimes. This guy is class and even though i hate Chelsea and players, i won't be moaning about this signing. Let all those 'mockers' 'Knockers' laugh now. Going down? No Chance.
Don't doubt the accuracy of what you say, just never heard his name touted throughout the off-season.
Have you got a ventriloquist doll or glove puppet? Is West London Willy a orange bear that carrys a small black wand? Great signing
I'm pleased he has signed, I think, he certainly has pedigree, I'm somewhat suspicious of the timing. There's something about this that isn't ringing true for me.
Just goes to show that all the players that we have been linked with in the press, and this one comes out of nowhere! Decent signing, you can't argue that he hasn't been there & done it.
maybe he was on an extended vacation. if he wanted to wait for other offers, he would've had almost 2 weeks still to go...
Maybe he was. Never heard his name touted anywhere in the off season In 2 weeks his bargaining position in England disappears. Maybe, we've touched lucky.
A fair point. The extra away fan that you'll provide will be a real morale boost for him and the other new signings if/when things aren't going too well. PS. Good signing
Why sign a month ago when you dont know what other options were available? Perhaps we werent even interested then.
