Sorry mate, can't get excited about it. I don't believe Borini's the answer to our problems. I hope he proves me wrong.

its all just twitter talk at the minute. there's no way we have offered 14 mill upfront. maybe 8-10 upfront with the rest in bonus.

So we're paying 14m to be as good as last year, which was ****e.

Happy to get him but the fact is we need more and if we're paying those prices we're going to have to pay a lot.

He'll be worth every penny. The lad is a bit of class and he'll attract other top players to the club. Remember, he's only 23, so he will carry a substantial sell on value if he ever wants a move. Happy days I reckon.

Could also include writing off mignolet/Henderson add one which would knock off a couple of million

This isn't a bad deal especially in the current transfer market

We played some absolutely cracking stuff at the back end of the season which should stand is in good stead for the start of this one...And oh yes, we got to a cup final as well...

Really? Don't see that at all.

I'm just hoping we are going to sign up some quality service provision for our strikers.

Arrrgh much as I love the lad I STILL just can't see why we need him, especially for that sort of money? Giachherini looked decent on the left towards the back end of last season, and Wickham came on leaps and bounds and is still only young. So which one are we having sat on the bench? Our Italian internatinoal? The £14m signing? Or the "future England international" we are currently trying to convince to sign a new contract reportedly worth approx. £40k a week? I just don't get it. That money could have been put to much better use imo. Hope Gus knows what he's doing...

Quality? strength and depth? Competition for places? Versatility? Can't expect Giacc to play 40 games a season when he still wasn't ready for 90 minutes at the end of last.

We also got spanked by hull in the other cup and played a hell of a lot of dross too mate. Evens out as a pretty disappointing season. We need a better squad than last year. Everyone else seems to have strengthened around us.

he wont be our only player and at this point its only one piece of the puzzle. we need to see who else gus has in the pipeline. there's still ages in this window and i know we dont want to be waiting untill the last minute but you cant judge our signings when were only 18 days into the window. we saw what panic buying quanity did last season. we need to be more selective and refined and im sure gus is trying for players he thinks will fit in well and do the job. we just have to ktf

Lots of negative comments on here. Borini was first class last year and he will only get better. We know the passion and the heart he gives it will be fantastic for the team. Money is money it's not yours or mine and I don't believe this is as I read above all our eggs in 1 basket. Fantastic signing everything we needed in a permanent signing.

23 year old, let's not forget. I am very happy with this

Reported to be £12m with £2m in add ons.

12 + 2. He's only 21. 12 is nothing in today's market for a promising young Italian striker who has already got prem experience
