I know where I'm useful, SF.

If each premiership footballer in the 25 man squad could donate £1000 of their not so hard earned wages to the cause, that would be £500k! Scudamore donated 5k didn't he? His wages are obviously less than footballers get.
Makes me so angry when we are expected to dig deep, which we do and have to go without a pint or a takeaway etc when celebs can do both without even breaking a sweat!

I don't think going without a pint to contribute to a cause like this is too much to ask.
It's not you're right, but my point is some of us would struggle to donate yet we still manage it.
And yeah I'm sure footballers do donate to charity but it's just a shame when a footballer is doing something so amazing that they can't just donate a bit more to what is a great cause.
Nobody has to go public with a donation if they don't want to but if a few did, it would raise awareness of what Benali achieved! This man deserves to raise that £1million!
I very much hope I'm completely wrong and that his great challenge finally gets out there, because at the moment it appears that the general public prefer sheltering dogs.
Its all about publicity. Eddie Izzard had a series about his less outstanding achievement (which was nonetheless impressive by the way). Other people would write a book about it (i'm reading one at the moment about someone who cycled an old Giro d'Italia route). For some reason it hasn't really gone national which I don't understand. Steve Cram for example, a great footie fan and someone who ought to appreciate how massive an achievement it is.
It is about publicity. It's also about momentum. These things snowball after a while, provided they get the right people engaged. This one hasn't... yet.

When it wasn't even mentioned on Match of the Day(MOTD2 isn't as popular so it smacks of a half arsed attempt to promote it!) It's gonna struggle to snowball!
