He didn't "have" to choose elsewhere, the English FA decided he was eligible, isn't it down to Woodburn himself to decide which grandparent best represents his family? John Barnes chose England over Jamaica, Costa chose Spain over Brazil and the list goes on, it's purely down to the individual given the choice. Can't understand why you think it's such a big deal tbh.
But unless they could type with hooves and join not606 i wouldn't be having this conversation with them, unless Biscan is indeed a horse. please log in to view this image
Yeah, he didn't HAVE to! "The Guernsey official football team is the official football team representing the island of Guernsey (which is not part of the United Kingdom, but is a Crown dependency) in non-FIFA international football matches. It is not affiliated with FIFA or UEFA, and therefore can not compete for the FIFA World Cup or UEFA European Football Championship. BTW, I made a flippant comment (4 words). You have made it a big deal.
So, because he had the misfortune to be born in a place unrecognised by Uefa and FIFA it gives him the right to play for England, he was born nearer France than England.
Yes, but thanks to William the Conqueror, the French connection was unlikely. The Channel Islands are a dependency and in effect a remaining part of the British Empire. It was always going to be a home nation. (He could have chosen any of them).
It's not sort of in England. It is in England. Chester's stadium is in Wales though (at least most of it... Think part of the ground and a corner of the field are technically in England).
Pretty sure I said that? Home "nation" referred to the choices he had in England, Wales, N.Ireland and Scotland.
I think Matt le tiss could have chosen France iirc........us Guern's can see the French coast on a clear day He was always going to choose England though........
British Empire ring any bells? The lengths you're going to to justify the island boy with French ancestors playing for England is admirable mon amis.
I said "in effect" not "actual." Keep up! Although Wiki (yes, I know) uses the term: "The Crown dependencies are not members of the Commonwealth of Nations or of the European Union, but instead are part of the British Empire." .......so maybe it is "actual" Anyway, since when have the Channel Islands been French? I believe they were back in 933 AD Bit further back than Ben Woodburn's grandparents please log in to view this image BTW it's either mes amis or mon ami . As I'm on my own, the latter.
Le Tissier wasn't born in France of French parents and coached there since the age of seven. If he had been, they might have been a bit peeved.
Look Brecon, no matter how much you try and twist it, Le Tiss ain't English and Woodburn was born in England, just like Le Tiss Woodburn will win nothing at international level but he might outdo Let Tiss at club level....wouldn't take a lot.
I'm not twisting it. (Which is why I said Woodburn was MORE English than Le Tiss, if you care to check). However, I dare say you are right about both international and club level. You'd be in a shocking state if you achieved less than Saints did in Matt's time. (Avoiding relegation was the great aim). Great entertainment though!
