I think you missed my point. Le Tissier HAD to choose elsewhere and England were the closest home nation, in geographical terms and historical links. Woodburn was born, raised and trained in England.

He didn't "have" to choose elsewhere, the English FA decided he was eligible, isn't it down to Woodburn himself to decide which grandparent best represents his family?
John Barnes chose England over Jamaica, Costa chose Spain over Brazil and the list goes on, it's purely down to the individual given the choice.

Yes, but thanks to William the Conqueror, the French connection was unlikely. The Channel Islands are a dependency and in effect a remaining part of the British Empire. It was always going to be a home nation. (He could have chosen any of them).

Look Brecon, no matter how much you try and twist it, Le Tiss ain't English and Woodburn was born in England, just like Le Tiss Woodburn will win nothing at international level but he might outdo Let Tiss at club level....wouldn't take a lot.

I'm not twisting it. (Which is why I said Woodburn was MORE English than Le Tiss, if you care to check).

However, I dare say you are right about both international and club level. You'd be in a shocking state if you achieved less than Saints did in Matt's time. (Avoiding relegation was the great aim). Great entertainment though!
