Just like Phelan last year then. If we're near the bottom people will blame him like they did Phelan. Because Grosicki was played on the wrong wing or something equally trivial.
Yeah fair point, but Phelan was only criticised once he made some ****e signings. If we don't sign anyone then The Slut's in the clear.
So you think the Chinese owners actually identified who they wanted to bring in? Yeah fair point, it really does make sense that they wanted Weir more than, say Phelan, who knew him really well...
I meant he was criticised for the team he picked once he had new signings, mainly Marshall. It's immaterial who signed them.
Weir arrived at Man U at 15 and Phelan left when Weir was 17. He won't have been anywhere near the first team squad when they were there together.
And the same will happen with Slutsky. Losing is always down to some minor tactical decision, not the fact we have only 11 players and they're all bad. Phelan, but I don't see how it's relevant given that neither will have known him very well at all. It's an absurd logical leap to conclude that we signed Weir because of a Man United connection which doesn't line up with the time he was actually there. I highly doubt the Chinese picked him either. I think we just got some bang average players because we were desperate as ****. We all know Bruce left because of the transfer shambles. We all know we're still a transfer shambles. So why would we give Ehab the benefit of the doubt for Phelan's time here?
The comment back was 'Phelan didn't sign anyone, the Chinese did'. If that's not questioning who identified the players then it doesn't make sense because nobody ever thought it was Phelan's money being used for the signings
He managed the Russian national team. Now he finds himself managing a firesale of a squad. Should have got Dolan out of retirement instead.
Football people don't have to work with someone to know them. I'm pretty sure people at Utd who had worked with Weir would speak to Phelan.
Of course it didn't make sense, you'd have to be mental to think our targets were selected by some Chinese property developers.
It's pretty hard to get your head around the goings on at times. Cardiff where a laughing stock but at least their owner saw it was the wrong direction and changed things. File us under the Oystons and Charlton owners.
Or playing wil Keane as a lone forward leaving Hernandez on the bench , I aren't Hernandez biggest fan but that is bullshit - and if you call picking the strongest 11 available trivial , no matter what the circumstances id be interested what you do judge a manager on
Disagree , because if he got smashed 4-0 every week , I can't see him getting another decent job again , outsiders wouldn't take everything into account , they just see a guy who got beat every week in the championship .... People think it's heroic if he stays , well if he doesn't get any money in the next 2 weeks, I don't see it as heroic , it would be like one of those blokes who keeps forgiving his bird for constantly shagging around , and you just wanna shake him and give him a slap and ask him where his self respect is
No, I think he'd get a job in some places ok, like Russia. Just like Silva would in Portugal or Greece or somewhere if it had gone worse, though we looked very bad at the end of last season anyway. Some of the Chinese money must have been made available for Mason for instance, I don't believe the Allams were in the mood for making a club record signing at the start of last season, or really for the last two seasons.
