The most frustrating thing about the current vindictive assault on the clubs support is that just like Silver,we could eventually lose another manager without ever really knowing just how good ( or bad) he might have been. It's laughable because just like Bruce, the worse case senario for Slutsky would be to get sacked should we go down knowing full well the whole media circus would feel sorry for him, never mind the inevitable big pay off before finally sailing away into the sunset after mission impossible failed. Meanwhile back in the real world and 12 months down the road we could be struggling to avoid playing Grimsby or Lincoln again with no new buyers around the corner playing in front of an ever dwindling band of addicted prats like you and me.
He doesn't annoy me at all, he just amuses me with his one rule for him, another for everyone else and his obvious inability to admit when he's wrong... Beers are on ice, hot tub is turned on but I'm not backing Huddersfield
I know what you mean ... like threatening people for mentioning the Electoral Roll, then shortly after telling everyone on here where Ehab lives. What is his favourite smiley? But there's something else on my mind, and that is culture shock. It works both ways, that is, for a person becoming involved in a foreign culture, and for us when foreigners come here. Everyone has to get used to other cultures' way of doing things. Well I have some little experience of Russia, and one thing I know is that, like the Hungarians, the Russians can be very volatile. They rarely negotiate without having at least one shouting match, and they don't think they've haggled enough until they have walked out and slammed the door a few times. I am not criticizing or poking fun at them, and in fact, I find them colourful. We ought to bear this in mind when we try to interpret Leonid Slutsky's interviews.
Just how is Slutsky supposed to bring players in when his own position is so tenuous? I can't see him wanting to bring players he has worked with before if there is any danger of him not being here to work with them. Might explain why he isn't bringing in more Russians (on top of their high salaries)
The problem with Russian's is that they have to be internationals, and we cannot afford players of that caliber.
I like the 'I'll move posts and create a big fuss about it when they're off topic and I don't like them' but then happily chats off topic himself. It's a classic.
Back on topic to The Slut and I was thinking about this and wouldn't he be mad to quit? He's probably got the job in the 92 where he's under the least pressure from fans. We could literally lose the next half dozen games by 4 clear goals each time and nobody would criticise him.
Speaking of off topic The board ain't the same without patty When is his ban up? And you are right probably
Horses for courses. Given our policy of divesting ourselves of anyone worth any money, we should have appointed Warnock or the feller at Barnsley. Managers who know the terrain and who can wring every last drop out of their resources. On that basis, appointing Lenny was a mental decision.
I think (but I'm not certain) it was around the time DQPR were having their boardroom soap opera, with armed sieges etc that Warnock was there. There was a documentary about football management that included Colin, and showed him in some discussions with chairmen. What struck me was how diplomatic to the point of subservience he was with them.
Except that according to a Russian poster here that's all wrong. I keep mentioning it but apparently I'm the only person who remembers, but we were told that he did alot with limited resources at CSKA. The problem here is that it's unlikely he has many connections in this country to draw on.
