We were 104 in 2008.
Ahh that makes sense now. The number has just stuck for some reason.
We were 104 in 2008.
Fez, trust me, there are no cronies, there are no advisors, this is absolutely a one man dynasty.
COMPANY NAME .. not playing name ,... when will you all realise it ?
I've worked with some of the world's richest men over the last 10 years and their minds don't work as we might imagine.
I see Ken bates quite often and he's like a creature from another planet when he speaks to you. He has zero interest in anything you may say but 100% certainty in his own concept of everything.
If this owner of yours is similar then you're dealing with an entity you will never have the means to be able to reason with.
We remain puzzled that Dr Allam cannot distinguish between the name of his holding company and the football name of the club he owns. Until he registers a new name with the Football Association, the club remains Hull City AFC. His belief that we are already called Hull City Tigers, a name ripe for shortening, is therefore spectacularly ill judged and erroneous.
Our group has already had extensive contact with key figures at the FA, and we anticipate they will take a dim view both of this announcement and of Dr Allam’s rubbishing of our club’s proud history at the meeting we had with him last week.
Let us be clear - Dr Allam CANNOT change the football name of the club without approval of the FA, who in turn require consultation with fans of the kind promised by Dr Allam when we met. By claiming we are now called Hull City Tigers, he has announced a new name and gone back on that promise - it took him 10 short days.
We have seen the academic paper that Dr Allam has based his name shortening strategy on. He has apparently only read the first page, we have read all 59. The paper is entirely irrelevant in that it has nothing to do with sports businesses and nothing to do with business success. It is a paper about stock market gaming - apparently stock brokers are more likely to trade shares in companies with shorter names.
To conclude - we remain eternally grateful to Dr Allam as the saviour of Hull City AFC and the man whose money propelled City to the Premier League. But we believe a man that breaks FA rules, breaks his own promises within days and rides roughshod over our club’s proud history should not go unchecked. We remain determined to do everything we can to retain Hull City AFC as our club name. Our campaign continues - indeed with today’s announcement it is clear that it has only just started.

enjoy being played with like a toy ... I know ... I worked there .. I know how much they spend and getting solicitors to read and edit every club statement ... you have nowhere near the financial clout that they have .. but hey you get to have people donate to a lost cause .. enjoy your time protesting but it simply will not work
The moment the first 'fan' (i use that term very loosely) says "Allam out" is the moment the campaign needs to pack its bags in the clubs best interests before we end up like Newcastle or TWS.
"The last thing the club needs is disgruntlement and a rift in the support." Don't you think that Allam should have thought about this before deciding on HIS unilateral course of action? This campaign is starting to seem less of a strictly anti name change campaign and more of an anti Allam rebellion by the day. It seems to be influencing other fans into its vendetta as well. I feared it might start turning sour.
I don't like it. If Allam wants it bad enough he'll get it one way or another despite what any fan does. Time to call it a day before it does get nasty. The last thing the club needs is disgruntlement and a rift in the support, it needs us all behind the team as one.

Having worked in this field for many a year I can absolutely confirm this NOT to be the case, in fact it's totally laughable to think that hedge fund managers favour investing into a company because it has a shorter name, seriously![]()
I don't really understand your question. But to answer it, no.
Yes, The Doctor is the source of the problem, but if he's not going to change his tune, I think it's up to supporters to recognise that and admit defeat for the better of the club. I dislike the way the campaign has started to paint The Doctor in a bad light as if he's a snake oil salesman who will bring harm to the club. I'd like the name to remain the way it is as much as anyone, but this isn't a matter of right or wrong, it's a matter of opinion, and I wouldn't like to see the club in turmoil over tradition, which in all honesty really isn't essential. It's just a preference.
Maybe you'd like to add another five years onto this then

The point that does not seem to be made is that if the dinosaurs at the council were to deal with the club in a fair and proper manner so that both parties could have progressed in their talks would have alleviated all this nonsense.
The club could have bought the KC at a fair price and the club could have done what they wanted to do in the first place and all this nastiness would not have been IMO necessary, some will say that AA would have then sold it all for a profit and that we would have had no ground to play in but surely covenants could have been put in place to counteract this.
I feel that the way out is to use our voice against the dinosaurs at the council instead of the man that bailed us out to the tune of £66 million pounds.
I did see that someone had come up with a plan for all to win although I can't remember who it was but OLM was going to put it to the committee, this is the sort of support we should be striving for on here instead of tearing at each other as we have been?
Plenty of users have griped about the dinosaurs at the HCC on here, surely they are the enemy not the Allams as they want the same success for the club as we do and it is about time we concentrated on ousting some of these dinosaurs at the council at the next election.
i really think the councillors who prefer rugby would laugh at the removal of the city bit of the name rather than be upset as the chairman intends. the chairman has shown more than once that he is capable of knee-jerk irrationality and many on here will have their doubts about what happened when talks broke down and who is to blame. if you go to negotiate you don't take the ball home at the first setback.
Yep, realise this now. 104 has just stuck with me since it was mentioned a lot in our first prem season.
Can't the name simply be changed back when this particular owner goes?

every positive you took from the meeting they will have taken two ... it really is men against boys I am afraid .( and I support your principles) .. but I know what will happen regardless
