i'm pretty delighted he's a brilliant keeper but i'm pissed off that we can't get anyone in permanently.
I really can't see Amos coming here as number two. If he starts and has a mare like Gulasci did then he can expect to be dropped but if he does come I think he'll start the season as our number one. Is he likely to get picked ahead of De Gea or Lindergarde even he has a blinder in the Championship? Probably not so if we have a successful season he could become a permanent signing in the long run in any case.
SB has said he will talk to Wenger about Mannone after he returns from his holiday. He has also said Guzan was wanted as our No. 1 keeper. Now he has taken Amos and no doubt he will say the lad will be No. 1. Don't any of you play poker? Bruce is giving himself enough ammunition to call Wenger's bluff on Mannone's £1million price tag. He can now say that Mannone is a low priority for Hull City and see how the Frenchman reacts. He may even say in the press that our interest in Mannone is over. If Wenger really wants rid he will drop his price, but get used to this folks because it seems we finally have a manager who knows how to manipulate the market.
I'm pretty sure Mannone isn't out of contract in the summer, in 2010 he signed what Arsenal called 'a long term contract', I'd assume 2014 at the earliest.
We may not bring in another keeper and just keep it as Amos and Oxley and bring in an emergency loan if anything happens to either
How do we know the Amos loan deal doesn't have a sale price included for the end of the loan spell? Or first refusal if he moves over next summer? I've heard great things about Amos and Bruce has done well to get this guy in, especially if it's a try before you buy scenario. Also, won't a fair few of our players have played with him before anyways? Chester, Evans, Stewart and Dudgeon surely? I see Amos as being part of this 'ex-man united youngster' happy family we've been building. And there may well yet be another keeper coming in as well? So negative on here today!
He signed a new deal in May and Fergie has high hopes for him. With that, I'd say he's unlikely to be leaving for £750k next summer.
My mate is a season pass holder at Old Trafford and has seen him play. Reckons we've got ourselves a decent player.
If Man United want to loan a player with a view to flogging them, they give them an extra year, they don't give them a three year deal. I don't think we'll have the option of getting him on a permanent.
He has played for United in the Premier League thats enough for me, Fergie wouldn't play him against a side like Stoke if he didn't think he was decent. Never seen the need for a permanant one, over past two years bar a couple of incidents with a poor keeper in Gulacsi i have never seen why we need a permanant one over a loaned keeper, what difference does it make?
I think the argument is just that every so often your keeper gets recalled to his parent club, has to go back due to 93 days rule on short term loans or gets a dodgy knee in the case of Basso. All of those came about because we tried to get keepers on the cheap and use either loans or cheap veterans like Basso.
This keeps popping into my head whenever I hear Amos. RIP Alex, you were one of the very best.
No we don't we use some of the money that the Allam's alledged said they provided NB to buy a ****ing decent goalkeeper instead of paying £250,000 to train a Man U keeper FOR THEM!!!!!!!! I don't see the sense in THAT.
We need an experienced keeper as backup. I'd like Vito to come to us but I can't see it if he's unlikely to be first choice. I don't think we'd get a loanee from United unless we were expected to play him week in week out.
You are correct. Remember reading at the time that he had signed a 3 or 4 year deal at Arsenal. That's why Arsene thinks he can get a decent fee for him.
