Trooble at mill. I hope it's not true. Ade has accused AVB of lying to the media. Let's see what happens. I thought pre season that there might be trouble between the two.

It was about the fact he was happy for Ade togo to Acon. In private (according to Ade) he is not happy about it.

"That is what he said to the press, but not what he said to me," Adebayor said.

"There is a difference between what you say to the press and what you say in private."

The sun is hot. Water is wet. The sky is blue.

Lying to the media is a duty not a crime. In this case it is hardly lying anyway, being happy to allow his player to decide for himself and being happy with that decision are two different things. Therefore it is quite possible to say these two things without lying. The only issue here IMO is whether Ade should be blabbing about what was said to him in private.

The title and choice of words in the OP is very poor IMO TMT. Where does Ade call AVB a liar? That is your interpretation and almost Mail like in it's sensationalism.

It invites the kind of self righteous bollocks that PISKIE has posted already.

Surely it is a compliment if your manager is unhappy with you not being available. Better than disappearing for a month and nobody noticing, lol

I had a feeling all along that Ade was going to go to the AFCON to be honest, despite being a fan of his, he's been poor this season so performance wise we won't miss much, just hope Defoe stays injury free.

If he wants to hint that AVB was bullshitting the press, it's only doing his chances of getting back into the team when he's back even harder, the last thing he wants to do is piss the manager off when his performances have been below par. At present I think Dempsey is going to jump ahead of him based on recent form so he isn't doing himself any favours to be honest.

Storm in a tea-cup.

The actual interview is here: http://translate.googleusercontent....a-can/&usg=ALkJrhios5op-ivW5-qqrXmWhfzjM1T4SQ

Google have done a nice job translating it. The English press have missed out important parts, such as:

Andre Villas-Boas said he did not object to your participation in the ACN...

Yes, this is normal. In a club there is the coach, the fans and the president. So that's what he told the press, but this is not what he told me. There is a difference between what is said and what the press says face-to-face. So as I said, I'll go there, I will discuss with President Daniel Levy and after I get back. No worries.

It all sounds much more casual when read in full.

A bit of a silly and unnecessary thing to suggest and now we get to read rumours about Ade leaving for the rest of the month.

It's funny aint it, what the media are bothered to report on.

AVB did not say he was happy about losing one of his strikers to anyone I'm sure, why on earth would he be happy about losing a player and possibly getting him injured to boot. But he is happy for Ade to represent his country but not happy he is losing him for a spell.

If Ade gobbed off about what was discussed in private, he is indeed in trouble but that remains to be seen and will be dealt with by AVB

He's probably pissed off at the way that Adebayor's handled the whole thing.
He insisted that he wasn't going for bloody ages and then changed his mind right at the last minute and it doesn't seem that he's given us any notice about it.
Given time, then the management could've arranged to bring someone in to cover his absence. Perhaps someone from the MLS, which would've killed two birds with one stone?
