No Spurf I'm not but it was called an unsubstantiated claim by Relayer and I'm providing the proof that it's not. I don't know why this subject has caused such a furore and why you are calling me strange Spurf, that's a bit over the top,one article you consider off makes me strange? Don't we want to know if there's a rift between players and coach?

The Mail does not provide you with any kind of proof all it does in fact is confirm the misgivings that I and other posters had with the tone of your OP in the first place. It's strange in the sense that a Spurs supporter would want to add fire to a story that will not help AVB , Ade, or Spurs. In case you miss the point of what I am saying let me say it is not your reporting of the issue that is the issue it's that you chose to use the word liar. It appears from the timings that this is your word, if in fact you lifted it from the Mail then I withdraw the point.

OK I withdraw the point. <ok>

At the same time I'm sad to see you aligning yourself with Mail in it's suggestion that AVB is a liar. In my view the Mail is ALWAYS wrong even when it manages to report correct information it will do so with it's own personal slant as it is doing here by using carefully selected words to fit the 'fact' to its own agenda.

"Aligning myself." I'll have to think about that one Spurf but let's see what happens when he comes back from Africa. I said before the season started that Ade isn't an AVB type of player and I just want to be proved right rather than wrong on this point. If nobody remembers that I posted it then it's all for nought isn't it. Hey ho,let's move on. At any time you have the authority to close this or any thread if you think it's out of line don't you?

Here's how you read a football "story" in the press.

    1) Ignore the headline.
    2) Only read the stuff that's in quotation marks. (The rest is speculation, padding and use of phrases like "Spurs stopper", "wantaway striker" etc).

That's it! So the story actually reads:

A couple of days ago Adebayor said: "That is what he said to the press but not what he said to me. There is a difference between what you say to the press and what you say in private."

Take out the headlines, the photo and The Mail's choice to use words like "blasted" as well as other filler (the fact that he plays for Togo, the dates of the tournament etc) and those two short sentences are actually the entirety of this "news" "story".

Anyway - that's a few more clicks on the most popular news website in the world (no **** - it's The Mail). Sigh.

Circumstance (the latest U-turn to stay) may mean those involved may just put it behind and move on, if not, one of you may find out how horribly wrong you are.

I think that it's probably a given that coaches often say one thing to the media and something entirely different to their own players.
    That's just sensible management.

Ferguson will often lay the blame for a poor performance on the doorstep of an unfortunate official, for example.
He sends the media off on their merry way with a fully written story in hand and they don't point out the appalling display on the pitch, raising a completely different point, instead.
Then he goes into the dressing room and points out exactly what went wrong to those involved.
