I think it actually looks better on photos than to the naked eye, although it was still really unusual and cool even without a phone.

...and use the long exposure setting on your phone (usually around 6secs or so). I managed to capture the lights a few months ago when they weren't really visible to the naked eyeMost phone cameras now have wide apertures available (f1.6) which let in more light than the human eye in the dark (about f2.1), so its definitely easier to spot the northern lights with a phone or camera.

Apparently mate, 22-30 is the best time to see it.This has been on my bucket list literally from the day I found out about them aged 7/8. Cannot ****ing believe waking up this morning and finding out they were basically on my door step. Myself and mrs Red were going to Norway next year to hopefully see them. Apparently they are around tonight so will definitely keep off the pop…..
