We went to Norway last month and saw nothing like that!

My daughter's just sent me a similar picture to yours from her house in North Shields.

I'm currently in Tenerife so completely missed them. <laugh>

    Over our house.

I think it actually looks better on photos than to the naked eye, although it was still really unusual and cool even without a phone.

I could just see it, I live in a pretty heavily light polluted area in the middle of a large village surrounded by several large quarries that have huge floodlighting on all night.

That must be the strongest it’s ever been?

Most phone cameras now have wide apertures available (f1.6) which let in more light than the human eye in the dark (about f2.1), so its definitely easier to spot the northern lights with a phone or camera.

...and use the long exposure setting on your phone (usually around 6secs or so). I managed to capture the lights a few months ago when they weren't really visible to the naked eye

Yes thanks mate, bit of a heart scare, was supposed to be in all weekend but they're going down a different route because of my health issues.
Back home now and feeling better. :emoticon-0148-yes:

This has been on my bucket list literally from the day I found out about them aged 7/8. Cannot ****ing believe waking up this morning and finding out they were basically on my door step. Myself and mrs Red were going to Norway next year to hopefully see them. Apparently they are around tonight so will definitely keep off the pop…..
