Not a good start, he's going to be embarrassed and humiliated in the dressing room. It will put him off his game.

Blackburn fans seem to rate him very highly. But they didn’t have McCann as manager! I’m sure Terry will set to work on removing all Smallwood’s footballing ability.

Tend to agree the only word of caution i have is, that in his time at Blackburn he was in a team with some decent attacking players around him, pleased with his arrival, but the jury's out and that's down to the owner and manager.
Work-rate and endeavour is fine but is he any good. They could play me and I'd run my socks off, try my hardest and still be completely useless.
Edit: Just looked, he started 2 cup games last season and was subbed in both. That's it.
Tbf I'd never heard of Ashbee before he arrived and look how that turned out .. here's hoping he is the mouthy hard man in midfield that will get among them if they aren't putting a shift in.
But has had 201 games in the Championship.We'll have to wait
and see.
Give the lad a chance. It's his footballing ability we should be concentrating on.The size of his wood shouldn't come into it.
He's actually got the sort of bite we were sadly lacking last season, it's just a shame he's barely played for a year.
I don't think we target injured players.... I think some players we've targeted have had fitness levels below what we should be prepared to accept. Could blame the medical professionals though.....
